Re: Where to go on my next dive trip???
This past March we did a week in Lembeh at Lembeh Resort followed by a week in Bunaken at the Siladen Resort & Spa. Both were excellent resorts. Our dives were guided, but each dive was at least an hour. The resorts and dive operations were very accommodating, so I am sure you could work out a m...

Re: Seasoft Fined For Dumping Lead, Arsenic
I dug out my old copy of Lange's Handbook of Chemistry. Lead oxide (PbO) is yellow. Lead chloride (PbCl2) is white. The milky stuff we are probably seeing from our soft weights is probably lead chloride (not definitive). It could form if some of the lead dissolved due to corrosion or some other type...

Re: God's Pocket Situation
YellowEye - it would be good to check on the Hideaway while you are there. I was at GP last August and we discussed the Hideaway. It is my understanding that the Hideaway lost their lease but have not closed their door. I was trading emails with Bill a few weeks ago and he had some openings in June....

Striped Nudi Eggs
Did a dive at the Junkyard a week ago and saw a bunch of Striped Nudis around. Got a shot of one that I believe was in the process of laying eggs.

Re: Travel Bag
Gdog - I use this bag from Costco.... https://m.costco.com/High-Sierra-30%22- ... 63588.html Works well, doesn't scream dive gear. I am looking for a new bag, have worn out a couple. Is this one durable? Wheels strong? I usually am pushing the 50 lb limit. Need to pack my reg as I carry all my camer...

Critter ID Help
I was going through some photos from a trip to God's Pocket at the end of last August. I just noticed a hitchhiker on this Clown Dorid that looks like some kind of worm. Can anyone identify it? Sorry the photo is not sharper.

Re: Muvi K2 found at alike cove 2
Nice find, too bad it was in bad shape. My wife once found a video camera on a headband, also at Cove 2. It had only been in the water a couple weeks, so I was able to charge it and see what it had on it. I saw a nice video of the diver who lost it swimming away as it sank to the bottom. However, I ...

Cove 2 Octo on Some Eggs
Did a Mother's Day dive with wife and daughter today. Lots of crap in the water, but we did find an octo on some eggs. Overall, a nice relaxing dive with a few different nudis.

Dive Operators, Channel Islands
My wife and I are planning a trip to CA for early summer and we want to do some dives in the Channel Islands. Does anyone have experience with a good operator? Any recommendations on the best islands to dive? We plan on bringing our dry suits. Any suggestions or comments will be appreciated.

Thanks Jan. I also thought it might be a coralline, but the frills/folds on the lower edge makes me think it may be a worm.

Did a dive yesterday at Titlow and found this colorful critter (I think). Have not seen one before. It looks like it is thicker on top than on the bottom. It was about an inch wide, and I estimate about 2-3 inches long. Is it some type of worm?

Re: Raw sewage pumping into the sound
Based on what I have been able to find, they cleared Seacrest (Coves 1 - 3) and Alki Beach yesterday afternoon. For the bypass, King County was apparently only sampling at West Point and to the North (Golden Gardens & Carkeek). Carkeek was above criteria in the most recent report KC posted. From...

We did a dive to St. Eustatius this past Feb and really enjoyed the trip and the diving. It is off the beaten path and not very touristy. It has a lot of history and the diving was v. good, with short boat rides. Nice place to lay back and relax. We dove with ScubAqua - they did an excellent job.

Re: Need your thoughts and ideas
I did a trip to Dumaguete a few years ago and stayed at the Atlantis resort. They did a trip to Apo and offered a full lunch on the trip - it was over an hour to Apo from the resort, as I recall. They also had an arrangement with the locals at Apo for buying stuff while at the island. The muck divin...

We saw a new (for us) nudi yesterday at Cove 2. I think it is a White-Spotted Dorid (aegires albopuntatus). Can anyone confirm? It was about an inch long. Could not get its head, as it was bent around and I could not get it in view. You can see some white spots around its head.

Re: Crabbing?
You will need a crab bag to put the keepers into and a caliper to measure. You can harvest dungeness and red rocks, but I only like to harvest dungeness. I think the best way to get them is to pin them to the bottom and then pick them up from the back. They will run when you get close, so you need t...

Skeleton Shrimp
We did a dive this morning at the old Dickman Mill Park in Tacoma. Found the weird critter below on a piece of kelp. Thanks to Greg Jensen's excellent crab and shrimp book, I identified it as a caprellid amphipod or skeleton shrimp. It appears that the two white ovals on the kelp are part of the cri...

There is no problem whatsoever in crossing the border in either direction - only an issue for taking the BC ferry.

Re: Border crossing with tanks question - Anacortes to Sidney B.C. and back
I have crossed while declaring the tanks as dangerous goods and had no adverse response from the border crossing staff. It is a requirement, and there will be consequences if you do not declare them and they are found. You do need to complete the Dangerous Goods form, and you should declare the DG s...
