Re: Collapsed i90 Floating Bridge

Their is all kinds of stuff down their cars, trucks, all sorts of construction equipment. Pretty cool to dive. I believe it is open to dive again. They closed diving down under all bridges after 9/11 as a security thing that has been lifted. Their still is a surface restriction if you are diving fro...

You shoulda been there when she was burning. It was interesting to watch from the helo deck on the USCGC Boutwell. Actually, I cheered as she went down. I spent way too much time in court over the violations I'd written against that crappy ship. Semper Paratus! HAHAHA what you did not like the way ...

Re: Remembering the Al-Ind-Esk-A Sea

We definitely didn't do it on a "good" day. Vis could be measured in inches, and I can see how it'd be easy to inadvertently end up inside without realizing it. Still, I'm glad we did it though! My motivation for doing it again just isn't super high is all, when we have so many other awes...

Who's releasing a repackable scrubber for these? The rumor I heard was Jetsam was not interested in releasing a repackable for their "recreational" SCR. Several different people make a packable cartridge that will replace Extend Air Cartridges. It is a disadvantage of the cartridge type f...

So why isn't he pulling it at the end of his dive? K the bottom of that line is at like 497' just shy of 500'. He has been going out 3 or 4 times a week and trying to find a hole that will give 500' from shore for the last year. Just like deep cave penetrations and route setting in climbing you lea...

I trade crude oil futures, so I know what you mean when the majors hit the market. Didnt know about HE wrt the above though. Interesting. Too bad there arent HE futures :) Not here but on the international their is, that is what the Russians set up. If you have the money and it is not regulated any...

Re: Where to get Helium?

Internationally their is not a shortage, and in a few months the manufacturing capacity will be many times what it is today. More than enough to supply projected global growth out to 2030. Problem is we not longer control the market in it. It is now in the control of a foreign commodities market. Th...

Their is one thing about Shearwater, you do not pay for upgrades unless it is a major hardware or second party software upgrade. If you had a old Pursuit the earlier LCD version of the computer for a very fair charge you could up date your computer to the Predator OELD. Tech updates and new software...

After I clean it, I'm gonna sell it for thousands of dollars and get a book on solo diving so I can love solo diving way more than you love it and actually know how to do it...

Re: I know this'll bring interesting conversation (p-valve)

Appreciate all the help and ideas, my biggest thing is I have seen a lot of talk but never met anyone who actually used one, I'm pretty convinced to get on if I use it that'll make the dives that much more relaxed and if I don't need it at least I have it I use them almost every dive. And as mentio...

Cap'n, so the hot weather makes it worse?? Now that I think about it, I guess it would. My hot weather diving was in Jamaica and the Virgin Islands so it was surfshorts, and rash shirt temperatures so lets just say there are two types of people, people who pee in their shorts and....well you get th...

If you are in the market the Divesoft and the new Analox that use sound are more or less permanent. They can also take some water but not a full flood of it.

Anyone know of any others using the sound trap?

Re: Cuda Alternatives???

the RS1 clams a weight of around 20 pounds. Pretty lightweight. And magically go 3mph on 220W for 3 hours. Actually it probably does that, minus any diver. No they measure them like a torpedo. how fast can it circulate water in a closed circular track. they did not do do a live dive with drag on it...

Re: Cuda Alternatives???

Daisy chains are not meant to take or break falls. Slip knots are easier and cheaper anyway. So whatever happened to the nuclear powered cuda??? I used to make climbing gear they are designed to tear out the stitches and adsorb the fall. The force is determined buy the number of stitches in the bar...

I have several scooter but like to use the SeaDoo when teaching new people how to use them. It is much harder to accidentally hurt your self if you happen to pull the trigger by accident when it is pointing toward the surface. I have seen people cork doing that before. It has 3 gears and starts in 1...

What's a Daisy Chain? Typically something like this with multiple loops to adjust the length used in climbing http://www.rei.com/zoom/oo/96aa9d5f-0b9f-4d96-b404-9e4df833b853.jpg/150 I don't know how loanwolf is using his, I always thought he had a cuda anyway... Looking at the vids on it, I dont see a tow strap, you have to hang on. But for the cost, if it performs, could be good alternative for the scooter challenged, that dont wanna shell out 2600$++. just run a Daisy Chain or cord though the handles on the top and hook it off on you. works fine. if you ...

Let me add that I also feel that their claims are a little far fetched, and I also dont think they would compare in any way shape or form to the big boy scooters. I was just saying that I have scooted one of these to 85 90 fsw for about 50 minutes with no loss of power and it was pretty fun. So for...
