Re: Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday to me

I can remember back to 70. May this year be even better for you than it was for me. It was a very good diving year. :)

Re: RAW(.CR2) files to JPEG

Downloaded the MS Codec. Made the JPEG copies. Smooth and easy.

Thanks again.

Oh yes, we were foxed because the photographer had looked at them on one computer using Canon software. Zoom Browser worked just fine. I just don't have it on my computer. Plus, images need to go to other folks.

RAW(.CR2) files to JPEG

Just was given some images taken in RAW. Instructions with my MS Photo Gallery don't seem to work to convert to JPG to edit/copy/etc. Recommendations on how? Need a different application? I don't anticipate doing this very often so I don't want to buy some big application or one that has a steep lea...

New Toy

Result from the other thread was a new toy. Lots of features so quite a learning curve. One weird thing is having to use different outgoing settings for POP email depending on whether it is going by WiFi or 4G. Now to get something lighter that can be secured like my current laptop and that part of ...

Re: Smartphone Time Again. Opinions? Data?

Both the salesperson and the manager said it is just a Drag and Drop to move everything from Outlook on the PC to a Samsung phone. We ended up buying Samsung S4Active smartphones. The people in the ATT store spend about 4 hours with us setting up the phones and teaching us the rudiments of how to us...

Re: Octo/BC combo air supply

So....anyone here in favor of it? I dive a bc/w and my brand sells an integrated air supply designed for my bc for 99 bucks. I didn't see that before i posted. it is only 3 inches longer than my current bc inflator and it velcros to my shoulder harness keeping it streamlined and prevents it from ha...

Re: Smartphone Time Again. Opinions? Data?

OK, got things narrowed down pending two checks. First, can my spouse use a virtual key board? If she can not then the Blackberry Q10 seems to be the only game in town. If she can the Samsung S4 or S4 Activ., or maybe a Note 2. Second, finding a way to keep the Contact, Task, Memo, Calendar info on ...

Blackberry jumped the shark a long time ago. "jumped the shark"? What does that mean? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jumping_the_shark http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MpraJYnbVtE Couldn't get to youtube but wikipedia did the job. From what I read you may very well be correct even though the ...

Re: Smartphone Time Again. Opinions? Data?

My problem with Google is the Terms of Service and their publicly announced lack of regard for data ownership. Even in the case of the current monitoring flap their concern is not that the government got the info; it is that they can't pass the buck. A couple of the places I've had information have ...

No Windows Phone or Blackberry?

Given the make up of this group and all the marketing, especially by Blackberry, I expected a strong recommendation for one or both. Not that I'm complaining mind you. Dropping those makes the decision process simpler.

Re: Smartphone Time Again. Opinions? Data?

I've heard that Android machines, like Samsung, now have available security, maybe even encryption so the original lack of security argument is no longer valid. True?

If true that takes away one of Blackberry's big selling point.

If I were to go with Samsung, whether S4 or Note, can I synch directly with my laptop? Battery life? Note 2 has awesome battery life, as for syncing, you have USB storage connect, although not sure what you are trying to sync. Presently I synch Calendar, Contacts, Memos/Notes, Tasks and sometimes m...

We used to do international travel and hope to again. Blackberry on ATT worked just fine. A plus if the Samsung does too.

Smartphone Time Again. Opinions? Data?

Every few years it is time to let the old, rickety phone go away and to get a new one. Lots of recent changes in offerings, most of which I've been to occupied with other things to know about. Current phones are Blackberry Torchs(9800) operating on the general(BIS) system. Even with all the warts, b...

Fourteen months after the spine rebuild I can ride a bike! Today's 33 mile ride was a success. Now to finish learning to walk and I'm in business!

In the meantime running down the details of the next step is front and center.

Sounds really good. Thanks for all the info. As I get a bit further along I'll pin it down. Right now it seems Baja or Key Largo make the most sense. One would mix in a new adventure and the other would be going back to a familiar place but not doing some of the more extended dives. I'm headed out t...

Re: Two Years and Progress Continues.

Sorry to be absent for a bit. We were off celebrating our wedding anniversary.

Been to Cozumel. Our entire group, save a kid who only ate chips and drank coke, were sick. Other than that Mexican diving was very good. What y'all propose for Mexico sounds good. Need to get more info on that.
