Re: What's up with Dive Logs?
FWIW I have 887 dives in 17 paper log books the last 338 logged on computer. I do backup my computer to SD cards but still, my paper log books are my ultimate backup. But that's just me.

I have 338 dives on my Petrel 2. Fantastic computer. The compass is outstanding. I have had NO FAILURES at all.

Owner of a lonely fin
Have you been at Cove 2 recently swimming in circles? I might have a solution for you. We (okay, Daniel Geldof) found an Oceanic Vortex V12 split fin last night. Describe the unique markings you wrote on the fin and it's yours.

During a safety stop with my wife I drew a tic-tac-toe square in the sand. She wasn't impressed.

Re: Regulator Thoughts?
DIN or not to DIN. 1. I switched all my stuff to DIN, would not go back. 2. As of two years ago, Fantasy Island on Roatán did not have DIN valves so I used an adapter. 3. This year, Anthony's on Roatán does carry DIN valves. Just to say DIN might becoming more available. 4. If they had not had DIN, ...

I have a SeaLife HD+ Pros: comes sealed, reasonably big buttons, easy to use. Cons: Need to hold it still for good videos. I added it to a tray then added two SideKick lights. I'm considering adding more weight to the system to help stabilize it. Tends to shift to the red in color, I point it straig...

Have you checked with the employees at Marination? Sometimes they hold lost and found items.

Re: What is you favorite recreational tank size
When I dive singles, I dive an HP 100 and my wife dives an HP 80. Turns out her air consumption is better than mine, so much so that our pressure gauges read the same. By the time I suck my HP 100 down to 2000 psi, he HP 80 will be nearly 2000 psi as well. But again, that was with single tanks. I've...

Re: Drysuit Repair
I've had a bad year for drysuit zippers. I've had to replace two already this year and a third one is sitting in the garage. I've had the two replaced this year at TLSEA, I will soon send my third one in to the same shop.

As an instructor I sign peoples' log books when we finish a class. I don't know why; it's the certification card that counts.

Re: Keystone turned into SundRock
A few months ago I drove 174 miles (and $22.80 for the ferry) just to end up diving the I90 bridge in Lake Washington. That's North Bend to Keystone to Lake Washington then back to North Bend. Yep, it happens.

Water Temperatures Done Properly This Time
So this time I went back through my computer logs and clicked on each chart to ensure that I'm getting the correct temps. I've made notes of any anomalies (e.g., on the same day, Deception Pass is 5 degrees colder than Day Island and Skyline Wall is 4 degrees colder than Cove 2).

Re: Water Temperatures in Puget Sound past 17 months
Okay, you guys rock. The temperatures you were reporting made me go back and check my work. THE DATA THAT I POSTED IS BAD. I started with my last dive then pressed the down arrow key to the next record. Turns out that my temperature indication DID NOT change by pressing the down arrow key. Here you ...

Norris, you got me thinking, is this statement true? I looked at my dives on the computer for the past 17 months and you are absolutely correct. Check out viewtopic.php?f=1&t=26224Norris wrote:...temps change maybe only a couple degrees at depth annually...

Water Temperatures in Puget Sound past 17 months
I was curious, just how much does the water temperature change in Puget Sound? I looked back at some of the dives I have on my computer. All dives captured here were in Puget Sound, all were made with a Petrel 2, and I grabbed the temp readings from the middle of the dive, typically the deepest part...
