Re: Pregnant King Crab???

Thanks Jan! I read all the replies. Very interesting indeed. I'll have to keep my eyes out for it again. It can't be too common with the number and frequency of King Crab that I've seen and this is the first one.

Gull Rock August 10th

Jake, Rob and I blazed out to Gull Rock for the first time this year. Vis was pretty good, maybe 20ft. Not the best I've seen at this site, but it will do. Saw all the usuals, Puget Sound King Crab, Giant Lingcod, Coppers, Tigers, Canary and Yellow Eye Rock Fish, a dead seal, tons of nudibranchs, sc...

Pregnant King Crab???

Came across this little critter Saturday at Gull Rock. I've seen tons of King Crab, but never one with this particular issue going on. My guess is pregnant or with eggs. Anyone know for sure or have another guess??? Thanks.

Just checked, the tank is stamped M4002 which is the manufacturer number for Catalina. Catalina's were never manufactured with 6351 Aluminum. It was however made in 1988...

Trade Aluminum 80 for 40???

I have an Al80 I would like to trade for an Al40. The Al80 is Newly Hydro'd in September and has a brand new Thermo Pro Valve with the Red/Green indicator on the knob. The tank has been chemically stripped, O2 cleaned and is currently filled with air. I would prefer an unpainted or stripped Al40. Pm...

Re: GPS Recommendations

Anybody have a recommendation for a hand held GPS to use primarily for Kids Geocaching, and secondarily for getting the shot line on some wrecks? I'm looking at this one right now - http://www.amazon.com/Garmin-eTrex-Worldwide-Handheld-Navigator/dp/B00542NV32/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&am...

Re: Gull Rock, 9-23-12

However, what strikes me is lack of fish. Jan, we saw tons of them, but they were all deep. We were at 150fsw and saw several yellow eye, a couple of young canaries, many quillback, tigers and a couple of big schools of blacks. I think I might have even seen a china but not sure. And none of my pic...

Re: Gull Rock, 9-23-12

Where is Gull Rock located at... didn't see it the dive site listings Gull Rock is South of Pt. Disney on Waldron Island and just West of Flat Top Island. Pretty obscure little rock just poking up out of the water. Boat dive only, probably private. I know Kurt Long on the NakNek used to go there fr...

Re: Gull Rock, 9-23-12

What a great day to be out on the water! Sun, no wind, good vis and great company! Like tom said, about an hour run out to Gull Rock which is a rock pinnacle sticking out of the water South of Waldron Island. It used to be used a bombing practice sight and we have found spent ordinance while diving ...

Skyline Wall 9-16

Been a while since I posted a report. Me and two of my buddies had a few minutes, so we sped down to Anacortes to dive Skyline Wall. Vis was a good 15ft and we hit the tide just right for a gentle push out to the wall and a nice slow ride back in. Saw tons of critters as usual and I missed a juvenil...

Re: Porteau Cove, Howe Sound BC

Whytecliffe Park is a far better dive site in my opinion. I have done both several times and will continue to dive Whytecliffe from time to time. Lots more life, closer and better dive profile. You could camp at Porteau Cove and dive both sites several times over a weekend. Whytecliffe offers some v...

Re: Bottom Timers - Recommendations, Please

Tom,

I just picked up a uwatec off ebay for $55. DSS boot for $8. Tough to beat and works just fine. You have to watch for them, but they show up frequently and usually go for less than $100.

Foggy and Cold???

Since my boat trailer is still on the disabled list, we rustled up a 40+ foot Ocean Alexander for a trip out to Point Lawrence on Orcas Island and a stop at Viti Rocks on the way home. It was cold and foggy leaving Bellingham Bay, but the water was flat glass, the currents were non existant and the ...

Re: Pt. Hudson & Sund Rock, 11/14 & 11/15
