My wonderfull wife bought me a UK Light Cannon HID Light and a Mr. Heater for my boat. Tried them both out this morning on a dive out at Sucia Island. Man those HID lights are something else.

We or I should say my wife made an awesome prime rib for dinner. I'm still snacking on it.

Nice pictures! Did you get the DC500 with the strobe? Thats the one I have and it is posotively buoyant or I should say the strobe is. The camera and housing are negative, it doesn't float until you attach the strobe. I use a 1lb seasoft ankle weight wrapped around the arm of the strobe, works great...

Playa Del Carmen, Mexico

I guess I can give this a shot.... My wife and I went to Playa Del Carmen the first week of December. It was awesome, my first trip to Mexico. The saltwater dives were like diving in a warm bathtub, amazing. We stayed at one of those all incusives just South of Playa. Here are few of my photos: [img...

Your pics look great, alot of them look just like mine. I just got back from Mexico also. I dove with the Akumal Dive Shop. Two dives on the reef out in front of the shop and two dives at Dos Ojos Cenote. Hope you had as good a time as I did.

I'm 6'2" and dive 99.9% from a boat so lugging them around isn't an issue. The blending thing could be an issue. Any other things I should consider. I am struggling to see why, other than size or weight of the tank, why anyone would want anything other than a LP tank. The ones I buy will of cou...

High Pressure versus Low Pressure

I'm in the market for a new set of tanks. I have searched the forums and haven't found an answer for this question. Besides size and weight why would I want one or the other. What are the reasons I would use to decide one veresus the other? Size and weight are not an issue, I just want more gas. For...

I also use the DC500 and had a similiar problem. I took it to the UWS in Everett and the tried the Firmware thing which did not work. They also replaced the battery with no help. Ultimately it was sent back to the manufacturer and replaced with a brand new one. The manufacturer said it had to do wit...

Hi my name is Mathue. I'm kind of a "Lurker" around here. I live way up in Birch Bay just short of the Canadian border. Most of diving is from my 21' boat in the northern portion of the San Juan Islands. High winds have put a damper on my diving here lately but when we get a break in the w...

The tug was very cool. From the outside it doesn't look like much, but it's well maintained and the inside is in great shape. The boat is called the MV Songhee, check out http://www.songhee.ca, thats the boat owners website and it is leased to BC pacific Dreams for the Port Hardy dive season. Chris ...

It's the same place, the tug was anchored at the dock near the cabins. The cabins are owned and operated by a friend of the company I was with. They share the cove and dock space and operate on opposite weekends, someting like that. A friend of mine dove with them here a week or so ago, I can get mo...

Jana, I stayed and dove with these folks in May of '06. The name of the outfit is called BC Pacific Dreams. It's not a floating lodge but a 95ft converted tug boat moored in Clam Cove. The accomidations were very nice for a boat, the food was first class and the diving was the best I've ever done. Y...

I am going to Playa Del Carmen in December. I think Playa is about half way between Cancun and Tulum. We're staying at the Barcelo Maya All Inclusive about 20 minutes south of Playa. I haven't stayed there but have several good friends who have and they say it's top notch. I have a line on a good di...

I would definately be interested in the sausage if you make a group purchase of those. As for the O2 Kit, since I am primarily a boat diver I would rather have the larger O2 Bottle that John mentioned. 15 minutes vs. 40 minutes, I am seldom with 15 minutes of anything in the islands. If we can get a...

New to NWDC

Hi I'm Mathue, I live up in Birch Bay and dive weekly in the Northern San Juans. I'm a shift worker so I dive alot on weekdays. I have my PADI AOW and am enrolled in a Rescue Diver class for September working toward my Master Diver. I have my own boat and seldom if ever do shore dives. I don't make ...
