Wow some amazing responses, I have had people interested in both listening to and shareing their experiences. I hope we can make a go of this!
I have a call into various manufacturer reps, I am sure we can get some inside information too.

Re: Bottom Timer and Tables vs. Computer
The Suunto uses "RGBM" but not really. They kinda bought the name more than the algorithm. Its basically Buhlmann and a very conservative iteration of that. No deep stops Major penalties for repetitive dives Alot of us have used them in the past, they work fine for local recreational dive...

Free Computer Diving Seminar
Would anyone be interested? We can discuss different models and how to operate them as well as the benefits and drawbacks to using a dive computer to calculate inert gas loading. We could also cover diving with buddies who use different computers and demonstrate how in decompression diving dive prof...

Ok, next Saturday we are trying to decide which wreck to dive, Coaster or Black Dragon, I haven't done the Coaster yet, but slack looks so good for the BD. Those who have done both, whatcha think?

If it makes you feel any better, my Dad is supposed to be in the Caymans teaching CCR in two weeks and if he can't go, then there goes some significant income?

Re: Bottom Timer and Tables vs. Computer
One thing to add to Doug's comments on trusting and knowing the computer's algorithm, what brings me back time and time again is how many Sat divers whether military or commercial are relying on their computers. Cochran estimates that thousands of their computers are used each and every day around t...

Re: dive shops
oh, ok, misread, thought this was a helium quality issue.
Stupid bad smelling balloons, I wonder how many brains cells I killed cackling like Donald Duck as a kid.
I was thinking 20 bucks is cheap for a helium top off.

Looks like the PBM-5 Dive might be full, and the second dive is changing to the P-4Y and there are spots still open.

I have a call in to my gas supplier, I believe they supply such shop as well. This sounds really concerning and if it is the helium then I want know. It is a bummer you guys had to cut your dive short, I hope at least Dan got some worthy footy, but I am really glad Paul had the mindset to turn the d...

Re: Request for input: what gear to buy first for newbies....
Great input Babs, how was the dive with Gerry last night? Did you try Andrea's backplate and wing? I personally vote for drysuit, it will make you much more comfortable diving, and we have an incentive program where if you buy a drysuit before other gear, we furnish the customer with the remaining r...

Davidson Rock ROCKS!!
We had 14 divers splash at 1:30 Sunday on what many consider the premier pinnacle dive in the San Juans. Well 5 of us were on the Aluminator to dive the Black Dragon, but the weather prediction was sketchy (Wish I could be there today with them). Davidson must be made out of Fish steroids, man that ...

Re: why do dive shops do this?
Most local dive centers are run by humans, not machines. Most are hard working people who do their best to make sure every customer gets the best service possible. Unfortunately, they cannot please everyone, and sometimes mistakes and misunderstandings happen. Preach on Sista. BTW if this was NWSD ...
