Re: Selling the boat

And, after another week and a half of waiting for someone that "is definitely going to buy it," deal falls apart. Lesson learned is that (a) first person with cash gets this, I'm not committing again to the out of town type that "really wants it but can't get up there for a week or tw...

Re: Diving The Harpoon

Great video! I have to go back and dive that again sometime. My one and only dive on it was kind of a disaster. I got the cord to my can light caught on the boat as I did a giant stride off the side, which tore the goodman handle off the light head. Light still worked, so I decided to do the dive a...

Re: Selling the boat

That's a beautiful boat and a really good price. Wish I could pull the trigger on it but I can't. I just swiped the 3rd pic down for my desktop background so I can dream.. right now I'm at Starbucks making putt putt sounds and people are looking at me like I'm crazy.... You'd think they've never se...

Boat is coming back from PA this Friday and I'll have it together to show starting on Sunday. New price, $14k, if you're looking for a dialed in scuba vehicle, this is it.

Re: Artificial Reefs and the DNR

Agree. Its not like an oyster farm lease or marina lease (or timber sale) has to prove they have a net beneficial biological impact. None of them do from a biomass or biodiversity perspective. Those activities are targeting the economic development personality of DNR and if there's enough economic ...

Re: Artificial Reefs and the DNR

There may be merit in framing sinking ships and other similar structures not as "artificial reefs", which does imply a "marine life enhancement" conservation benefit, but rather as an underwater attraction for promoting ecotourism. This focuses the question more on the economics...

Re: Artificial Reefs and the DNR

Interesting response. On the permitting side of things (something I do professionally) if this ever gathers enough momentum, I'd be willing to offer help on the legal side of things pro bono if my workload permitted. Would be an interesting nut to crack. But, ultimately, this is a political issue th...

What is especially funny to me is that I KNOW Marc doesn't need to use a bag as a crutch, and I'm pretty danm sure Josh doesn't need to either. All this debate bag no bag (douche or otherwise) really doesn't apply to these two guys or this dive.

Good story Josh, and agreed, Marc is cool in these types of situations. Welcome to the "lets not try that again!" again club. I've never quite been there, but this somewhat reminds me of the time Richard, Rob and I tried to scooter from Washington Park to Skyline. We set our compasses, hea...

Re: Traffic Cams....

Hot topic. From a personal perspective, a good friend of ours just got t-boned by a woman who accelerated to try and get through a yellow light. Her car was crushed like a can, and she's lucky to have not been hurt worse than she was. Laws are there for a reason, people . . .

Actually, I was thinking that dive boats should really carry one of those to attract the attention of boaters after they've failed to notice the dive + alpha flags being flown and are still headed directly over a dive site... I totally agree. There are several "distraction devices" that c...

Re: proper sized bc for doubles

Well, I use a 40 lb wing with double LP 85s or double HP 100s, and I KNOW it will easily keep the tanks at the surface, because we doff gear in the water to get back on our boat :) It's fine with one deco bottle, but beyond that, i'd want more lift at the surface, because I like to be able to get m...
