Re: Scooters. What do you have? Your likes and dislikes?
I end up buying two of everything, so my girlfriend-buddy will get a scoot too. Effing expensive hobby [GRINNING FACE WITH SMILING EYES] we're already bp/w so it's just a crotch strap swap and a hit to the play money account.

Re: Scooters. What do you have? Your likes and dislikes?
Is it "worth" having a scooter in the PNW? What are good dive spots where scooter really helps? I was kinda under the impression that it was a clear water or big cave thing.

How does it compare in brightness? Just curious, because I thought I read the Focus is like 1000 lumens.Jeremy wrote: Now I have a Halcyon Focus. It's a better light but costs more $$$$

Any thoughts on the size of the Shearwater petrel? It looks big in pictures.

Re: looking for a singles wing ...
The hogs at 32lbs of lift seemed marginal for cold water dry suit diving around here. I have an Eclipse 40 and the girl has an Apeks WTX3 (34lb lift) I would not want to go much smaller given my weight/lift calcs. I've read that the Eclipse wings travel well if you unbolt them and roll them up. I pe...

Re: Just want some opinions
I've tried 4 different shops locally so far, and have found good and bad examples of customer service at each. People are just people wherever you go, IMO.

SW petrel, xdeep black, ostc sport, sea ear
I'm finding my Suunto D4i a little hard to use underwater and thinking about getting something with a larger lit screen and for future tech use. Any opinions or experience with these options? The Petrel seems popular in the USA but it is much bigger than some of the other options and I'm not a big g...

Re: Equipment Issues, Drysuit
I have (3) whites fusion suits in my house. We've had seam tape pull loose so check those really good and aquaseal as needed. Also your valves should have a clear plastic "washer" on the inside before you thread on the "nut." I got my first leak yesterday and I hope it was the du...

Re: Free Fixer-Upper Dive Boat to Good Home
Agree ^^ The trucks typically just had a different cam (less HP, more torque at low RPM). Boat applications actually like RPM so the car cams are not a problem but either will be fine. Boat motors were more likely to be balanced and blueprinted to sustain higher RPMs for longer times, but as long as...

Re: Light advice
I'm considering something bigger/brighter myself -- "1000lm" handheld doesn't have the lumens or burn time I'd like, and will be going to backup duty soon I think. UWLD LD35 seems to be in a class by itself in performance AND cost. For the Dusty's light, would love to hear some real-world ...

My Suunto D4i is working great, but the screen is TINY. Next version will be something with bigger screen I think. Girlfriend has a new-older Suunto Gecko that's been giving her fits.

Re: Free Fixer-Upper Dive Boat to Good Home
Anybody got a spare engine sitting around? :D All mine are GM. I would just pull the head on that side and see what's actually what with those cylinders. Is it possible moisture came in the exhaust valve(s)? If they're truly rusted, that motor is junk. Not even worth honing. Here's a 302 for $250: h...
