Found: Mask and Snorkel at Keystone 2/28

We found a mask and snorkel combo in the shallows at Keystone Jetty today. From what I can tell it looks like it was lost recently. Let me know if it's yours and I'll get it back to you.

Re: You know you're a scuba geek when...

I think you surpassed being a scuba geek when you figured out how to take a car seat warmer and convert it into a dry suit heater (with a few parts from the former Soviet Union army). You are now a super-duper scuba geek! :notworthy: I hope you and Heidi have a great time in Antarctica! Post some pi...

Re: Quick report on sites from this week

Rob (Knight Diver), my girlfriend Cindy and I were at Sund Rock on Monday also. We did two dives on the south wall since there was a class diving on the north wall. Both dives were awsome! We saw three wolf eels and at least 6 octos including one 10 footer out in the open. As you mentioned the vis w...

Re: EUP planning Q's

That class sounds great, I will look it up. Planning's one of my weak areas. I tend to do sites where it doesn't matter so much or go with others who have done the work. Like gas management, proper planning is something I cannot believe was not covered in my OW class. Here's a link to her website.....

Re: EUP planning Q's

Mischi at Pelagia Scuba puts on a tide and current workshop every so often, and it's worth the price of admission. They also put out a book with the tide and current charts, plus a list of time corrections and factors for just about all the dive sites in the area, including a handy-dandy worksheet ...

Re: EUP planning Q's

Hi Matt, Edmonds is a low current site unless there is a big exchange or you dive it on a max ebb. For Edmonds we typically do some basic current calculations to make sure we don't dive it when the water is really moving. How low a tide is too low? Low tides usually means lower visability but there ...

Re: 4 dives in Seattle

You could do 2 dives at Mukilteo - One at the T-Dock and one at the Oil Dock and then grab lunch at Ivars which is 100 feet from the entrance to both sites. Then drive down to Edmonds Underwater Park - Get your fills at Underwater Sports which is 1/4 mile from the divesite and then dive the park for...

Found - Back-up Light at Fox Island West Wall

I found a small back-up light at Fox Island West Wall today with the initials "AWB" written on it. It was found at 40 ft and looks like it has been there for awhile but still works.

Let me know if it's yours (color, make) and I'll get it back to you.

Re: G P O on history chanel 8/13

For us Puget Sound divers it was definately a comedy but most of my non diving friends thought it was awsome. I loved the part where the guy did a pike dive off the boat. I asked Rick (Banditos) about it and he said the guy was wearing freediving fins and it was the only way he could get off the boa...

Re: Mukilteo 1/28/09 3:30pm

Isnt the oil dock gone now?? I guess a guy could scooter over there?? Or are they still not letting you dive there....? You're thinking of the Edmonds Oil Dock. The Mukilteo Oil Dock is still there. It's really not that bad of a trek to the oil dock. You can wade through the water and get there in ...

Re: Mukilteo 1/28/09 3:30pm

The Mukilteo T Dock is located just north of the Muk - Clinton ferry terminal. The entry point is on the North side of the Silver Cloud Inn and if your lucky and get a good parking spot it's about 10 steps to the water down a set of cement stairs. For the most part the site isn't current sensitive s...

Re: Luxury Yacht Charter- San Juan Islands

I think it's a great idea and if you can afford not to have to run it like a business to keep things afloat then it should be a fun way to semi retire.

The Solomar V runs liveaboard trips around Vancouver and from what I hear there is a waiting list every year.

Re: Playa Del Carmen

We just did our first Cenote dive today at Chac-Mool! Wow this could be adicting. I wish we would have given ourselves more time for diving the Cenotes and maybe cut Cozumel short a little bit. Two dives is not enough. We used Aqua-naughts which is owned by Dennis (see Lynnes recommendation above). ...

Re: Playa Del Carmen

That brings up another question. I don't want to rent a car. Do the hotels offer shuttle services from the airport? If not, any recomendations on how to get down to Playa? Thanks for all the great advice! Bob Most of the hotels can arrange a shuttle for you. They are not cheap ( ~ $100 round trip),...

Work suspended on Maury Island dock

Good News! Maybe this will buy enough time to get the decision to build the dock reversed.

If not and least we'll get a few months to dive this great site before it is gone for good.

I got in 5 dives last month. It was definately the slowest month since I was certified. :-({|=

I've done 4 dives so far this year but we're headed to Cozumel for 10 days on Friday so hopfully I'll make up for lost bottom time! :laughing3:

I took Mishi's class last year and it was great!

I use her book and worksheets whenever a plan a dive to a current sensitive site and it's never led me wrong.

If UWS is offering it for free, jump on it. I think I paid $40 for the class and it was well worth it.

A Spiny Lumpsucker! I am so Jelious! We had a couple of great dives this afternoon on a Banditos charter. The first dive was on Dalco wall. We dropped down off the boat and immediately were greeted by a HUGE wolf eel just hanging out looking for his next meal. We decended on the wall to about 90 fee...
