Re: Port Townsend area dives 3rd, 4th and 5th

Awe well, It was my policy to tell everyone that I was not a great dive buddy. Glen is a good buddy.

The last weekend in July will be great for Hudson.

Re: Port Townsend area dives 3rd, 4th and 5th

Anywhere past the dogleg in the jetty is pretty much the same. Believe me when I say it's bad juju. I have more dives than I can count at Hudson, probably more than just about anyone else and I have a very strong respect for the currents there. Stay in the shallows. As soon as you drop over the edge...

Re: Port Townsend area dives 3rd, 4th and 5th

You missed it by a week or more, Should have gone then. Hudson will be gnarly and you won't have much of a slack if any. My experience is on big exchanges is to stay away from the barge unless you are a very strong swimmer. The current frequently never really slacks and because of the eddy current c...

I think that has actually been true for quite a long time but they just updated the signage. Sucks but it is an advanced site and I am sure they were concerned about liability.

OMG, 15 years old and faced with this tragedy? I prey he has family who can support him and his sisters as they attempt to adjust to this. God knows he will need it. 15 is a very vulnerable age and to be faced with this?

Re: Cleaning Boat Hull

Yes, I am just now putting new zincs in. Dusty2 did you mean diving is illegal? I've already decided to go the bottom paint route. Just gotta figure out if the place I've talked to about it is good and a decent price. No I mean bottom cleaning. The EPA and DNR have very strict rules about where it'...

Re: Cleaning Boat Hull

You want to be careful where you choose to do it. It is illegal in most marinas. You can get a hold of Mike Roth over in Port Townsend and see if he is still doing it. They can do it for you at the port. They have hydro equipment and do it out of the water hanging in a sling so you can see it all. t...

Re: Beginners Camera

I didn't read through all the thread but from experience I can say if new or fairly new to diving put the camera on the back burner till you get your diving to the point where it's pretty much automatic. Then get your camera. I would highly recommend doing the Reef ID course too, it will really enha...

Strange, the sea star wasting syndrome has increased the urchin populations in it's wake. maybe this is Mother natures way of trying to balance things. We can hope I guess.

Over 50?? what about over70? :penelope: I have to agree that age and stress levels are indeed a factor but there are so many complicating factors that it is impossible to rule out anything and in most of these instances we will never get the details. A 16 year old kids drop dead on the courts with n...

It is sad to see a company run into the ground like that after having gained popularity and name recognition but it seems to be the norm in the ...

E/o connectors are a pita! I won't use them unless a customer insists. It's not a question of if they will fail it's when will they fail and they are damned expensive!

Re: The Marines deserve their reputation

You gotta learn that when conditions are sloppy, Call it. It may not be bad at the moment but Redondo and a lot of other sites (PT?)can really go to hell in an hour and those rocks and that concrete wall can be life threatening and that ain't an exaggeration. Like they taught us in the aviation unit...
