Was there for a week, here's two of the wrecks we were diving. My friend Brian held onto the video pending release at a conference hence the age.

Re: Petrel 1 still worth buying?
You'll be much happier with a reliably supported Canadian shearwater more than any other made for a few years then discontinued competitor

Re: Petrel 1 still worth buying?
How much under $500? $499 probably not quite worth that IMHO. $400 I would say is fair. $350 is a steal.
You don't need the compass and its otherwise functionally identical. Just be sure to update the software, shearwater is frequently sending software updates. Its a snap to update via Bluetooth.

Re: Border crossing with tanks question - Anacortes to Sidney B.C. and back
Never any problem on ferry and land... I've declared them verbally but haven't filled out the DG paper. If I remember correctly (from CaptJack), you really only need to declare formally if they are %100 02. You need to be declaring your tanks to the BC ferries every time (the border could care less...

I doubt the line was cut maliciously. I could go Saturday to fix it if someone wants to join.

Re: Border crossing with tanks question - Anacortes to Sidney B.C. and back
There are BC ferry limits on how many tanks you can carry per vehicle, additional limitations on nitrox tanks. Be advised that older PST hp100s were never Transport Canada (TC) approved and cannot be legally refilled in Canada (although some fill stations don't care). You can easily check that your ...

Re: KVI Tower from shore
KVI is a pretty current sensitive site. You want to do it on a slack before flood, preferably a fairly low tide as the deeper stuff isn't so deep then.

Re: HOG Regulator Service Class
Well, I'm being ignored I think. I've called Tacoma Scuba twice now and recieved no call back or email, so I can only assume there is no interest giving the class. I'm going to reach out to Hog directly and see what they say. The classes are not part of any HOG curriculum, they are taught through T...

Re: Dive Xtra Sierra scooters for sale
Thanks for all the tips. It's fixed (pitch screw) plus annual service. It was not a case of - it's not very fast. It was a case of - it doesn't move at all in any speed unless I push it. It was just an unfortunate coincident that a key $1.75 part broke just when I bought it. I'm a happy camper now ...

Re: A good fill in the Seattle area?
Well we have only very very rarely had a contamination issue here (generally colder weather helps). I'd be way more concerned about FL, MX and other tropical fill stations. That said, ask to see their latest analysis, then use your own O2 and CO analyzer on every tank. Or buy your own fill station a...

Re: A good fill in the Seattle area?
Any way sorry to hear about the Nitrox issue , seems pretty silly as there is No agency to monitor or set standards for dive shops , and How they run Nitrox systems ... What do you mean? The compressed gas association sets standards for breathing gas which have been adopted by reference by basicall...

Re: Getting Hog regs serviced in the Puget Sound
Aren't HOGs Apex copies? Parts interchangeable? Don't own either brand, but I'm under that impression for some reason. (FWIW, I do my own regs - ScubaPro, Mares, Aqualung, Oceanic) Not perfect copies by any measure but yes. Tacoma Scuba is the place if you don't want to pursue the class and DIY rou...

trying borrowing and/or renting first. Especially BP/Ws vs a BC like that. And light(s). And steel tanks. As a general rule packages usually have one or two optimal items paired with other things that are less desirable. You probably will save money short term, but as mentioned end up replacing thin...

Which model are the kayaks? Think they'd each carry a human and a 125lb Newfoundland dog?
