Re: Stubby Squid Photo Sequence

MZ, I actually had about 12 good shots in sequence. It started from left to right. I spotted its eye poking out and took a few shots. It proceeded to pop out... 4-5 more shots. Then it decided to take off and swam right by my lens to my right (hence the last shot on the right). I really didn't think...

Re: Stubby Squid Photo Sequence

Thanks Airsix. I guess what I meant by "nothing special" is that I threw this together over a couple hours to see how it would turn out. I didn't add shadows or spend a ton of time spacing the squid shots. The more I look at it though the cooler I think it is. I really like the fact that t...

Stubby Squid Photo Sequence

I was rummaging through some old pics from 2010 and clicked through several shots of a stubby squid in sequence. I thought it would be cool to put them together into one shot. Nothing special just thought I'd share :-)

Sharkwater Documentary

Just watched this. It was pretty moving. In fact, I added the Sharkwater site's banner to my Smugmug site. Just thought I'd share. If you haven't seen this movie, it is fantastic. Sometimes I feel like I can't make a change, especially in regards to such a major issue like shark finning. Have a grea...

Re: Ikelite strobe firing problem

I have noticed this when firing in TTL. I have since dialed them to the manual settings. However, if you already shot in manual I would send it in. I have sent a couple things to Ikelite and they are great!

Re: Free Photo Workshop?

I really like the idea too. I have been thinking of starting a photography dive club where we could share ideas and learn from one another. This might be a start to something along those lines. I wouldn't mind having others try my rig out to see how they like it too. Kind of a gear exchange. I've be...

Crab ID

About one week ago I was positive I saw a rust colored hairy crab at Redondo. A species I had never seen before. While diving at Three Tree North last night I came across this little creature. It was by the 'golf-ball' boat where the large GPO lives. It moved like a tarantula. I snapped several pict...

Re: Strobe Lights and White Balance

Good point. I shoot with a Canon G10 and used the Canon RAW editor for post processing. I believe you can download the program via the website. Does the S90 create *.CR2 raw files? If so the G11 DPP software will work. Before I got CS5 I used Canon's DPP (Digital Photo Professional) and Picasa with ...

Re: Strobe Lights and White Balance

Quick question. Do you have a diffuser on your strobe? If not, this may do the trick. I also agree that shooting in preset modes causes WB issues. And I would agree that shooting in RAW is the way to go.

Bric, I got a picture of the same decorator crab (at Redondo on 10/28) with the anemones on it. Pretty cool... huh! Nice photos.

Re: More night moves at the 'Dond

Here are a few shots of the only Lumpie we found on 10/28. This PSL was tiny, about the size of a thumbnail.

Oh, we saw a lot of hooded nudis too :-)
