Re: Neck seal question
I used to use conditioner to help keep my neck from getting a rash. I recently switched to body glide ( http://www.bodyglide.com/#/products/anti-chafe ). It is made for runners and triathletes and looks something like a clear deodorant stick. So far it seems to work well. It is less messy than condi...

Re: New inexpensive HD video camera!
Hey Cabezon welcome to the board. I think I talked to your engineering partner this afternoon. We ordered a H2OV housing for my buddy's ContourHD today. Hopefully we should have some nice footage when I get back from the Channel Islands at the start of October. I'll post a link if we can put togethe...

hey lavachickie,
Yep I will be on the Vision with the Salem Scuba group. We had a great time and amazing conditions last year, so I am hoping for more of the same. Looking forward to meeting you. My buddy and I will be the tall scruffy looking guys in the red van :P.

Re: New inexpensive HD video camera!
A friend of mine just picked up a Contour HD helmet camera http://contour.com/contourhd/helmetcam . I'm not sure exactly the details, but he seemed pretty convinced that they were much nicer quality that the GoPro. The form factory is much smaller for sure. He has a couple videos up he took downhill...

Re: Oregon divers going to club dive Sept 18th?
I wish I could make it up, I still haven't gotten a chance to go to a club dive, but I have a family get together happening this weekend, so I'm not available. I can console myself with the fact that I'll be in the Channel Islands in a week and a half :). Have fun everyone, hopefully I will see you ...

Re: Best online source for quality bolt snaps?
Just a quick update. I made an order for a package of the 12SS bolt snaps and 162SS double enders today. I got an email back from Nix saying that they should ship out today, so they look to be back in stock.

Best online source for quality bolt snaps?
I picked up a pack of bolt snaps from dive gear express about a year ago. A fair amount of them had sticky action on the gates when I got them and at this point all of them have rusted springs. I was wondering if anyone has online source for good quality bolt snaps? I don't mind paying a little bit ...

Re: Planning Salt Creek Park dive Sat 9/11, information need
CaptnJack, Yeah it is right on the shore, even has a nice pull out and rock wall to gear up on, couldn't really ask for a nicer setup. The wall is nearly vertical from the shore down to 160 feet or so from what I was told, then it starts to angle to a more gradual slope. We only went down to 115'. I...

Re: Planning Salt Creek Park dive Sat 9/11, information need
Just thought I'd post up a quick trip report. Thanks again to everyone for all the helpful information. I ended up leaving from Oregon about 6 AM on Saturday and I made it to Salt Creek around noon, my dive buddies ferry from Everett was full so he showed up around 12:30. When I pulled up to the ini...

Re: Planning Salt Creek Park dive Sat 9/11, information need
Thanks everyone for the great information. Man, punishing surge, entangling kelp, raging currents, treacherous sea urchins, this place sounds like a real Northwest classic :). Looks like we aren't going to be in town until about noon, so we are going to play it by ear. Probably drive down and take a...

Re: Planning Salt Creek Park dive Sat 9/11, information need
scottsax,
Thanks for the link, the map will be handy, though it looks like I should have found it on the Perfect Dive :P.
For anyone that has dove here is a 4.5 foot exchange diveable if we stay on the rocky reef or are we only limited to a single dive at slack?

Planning Salt Creek Park dive Sat 9/11, information needed
Hello, All. This Sunday I am diving and camping with a group in Lake Crescent. My dive buddy and I are going to head over ahead of time on Saturday and do a ocean dive. We were thinking about doing Salt Creek Park, however neither of us has dove it, so I am hoping to get some information from the pe...

Re: Do cyborgs dream of electric underwear?!
The separate battery pack doesn't really bother be, but it would be nice to have an option for a longer lasting battery. A weight and trim mount or standard backplate webbing mount would be handy. Laura, are there user selectable power settings or an external power switch on the system? Is the batte...

Laura,
Do you have any idea of when they will be available for sale? We are on the verge of getting a heated vest for my dive buddy, but this is sounding like a pretty compelling option if it will be out sometime soon. Thanks for the heads up and information .

Thats a real marathon session. They were going at it at Sund when I was there three weeks ago :P
My dive buddy took a great picture of a bright Orange one. I've never seen that coloration before. http://picasaweb.google.com/Infl3x/2010 ... 6713688098

Re: diving from Portland
Hmm which holiday weekend are we talking about? Labor day? Just curious if I am missing something this month :P Well obviously offshore is the best way to go if you can arrange a boat or charter and get the weather to cooperate. For shore dives you are about an hour and a half from both Netarts and ...

Re: Cell phone reception at Clear Lake?
I am pretty sure you will have reception, there is a cellular tower on Hoodoo that seems to give pretty good coverage around that area. If for some reason you are in a dead spot you should be able to call from the Hwy 22 / 20 interchange on that is on the way. I can't remember if I made any calls th...

Re: Dive trip recommendations for Alaska Companion Fare
Thanks everyone for the great advice. I have never been to Hawaii, so that could be a nice option. I will need to do some more research on the potential places to stay and dive. It would be great to get out on some boat dives, but ideally I'd like to find a place where I can do some shore dives in b...

Dive trip recommendations for Alaska Companion Fare
I have access to an Alaska Airlines Companion Fare (First ticket full price, second one $100) and I was thinking about maybe using it for a diving trip. I was hoping tap the experience on the board to get some suggestions for a good dive destination in range of Alaska Airlines. Time frame would be s...

Re: Dive Partner needed for Hoodport diving!
Hey MelDiver, Welcome to the club :). We are doing a charter dive on Saturday (7/24) in Hood Canal with Pacific Adventures (http://www.pacadventure.com/index.htm), not sure if there is still space on the trip, but you could give them a call if you are still around for the weekend. If not, I get up t...
