Sund Rock 9/29

Haven't been in the water much all summer, so I figured I was due for a couple tanks this past weekend. Headed out to Sund Rock since I've only been there once before, and managed to get there before the hordes of people. We showed up at 7:30, but when we got out of the water after the first dive, t...

Re: Viz Reports Thread

Sund Rock was pretty nasty Saturday 9/29. 3-5ft until you hit 40fsw, then only up to 10-12ft.

Re: Isla Mujeres Whale Sharks

Great photos. That silhouette shot is incredible! Thanks. Took me all 4 days to get that shot. Either it was cloudy, the sharks were coming from the wrong direction, the sun wasn't exactly behind them, or camera issues. Finally got it on my last round on the last day, and then my camera battery die...

Isla Mujeres Whale Sharks

While everyone here was busy playing with Sixgills, we were in Mexico snorkeling with whale sharks. You aren't allowed to SCUBA with them, but seeing as how they all fed on the surface, it wasn't that big of a deal. In Isla Mujeres, off of Cancun, Whale sharks congregate to feed in huge numbers. The...

Re: Mexico diving/snorkeling?

Thanks for all the suggestions and keep them coming. I seen Cancun has whale shark snorkel trips. Whale sharks are typically off of Isla Mujeres or Isla Holbox. If you want to do a whale shark trip, you are better off heading out to one of those islands and leaving from there. I'm actually leaving ...

Re: Best dive tattoo shop in Seattle or Portland

My wife has had good experiences at Damask in Seattle. Hers was a whale shark, not an octopus though. Did not have a very good experience at Slave to the Needle.

Re: Sund Rock changes

I was able to contact Cindy Sund about access to Sund Rock going forward. Here are the details. They will open the gate on Saturday and Sunday with registration from 9-4. Weekday, off hours, night dives or group reservations can be made with Cindy personally at cindy.sund@alderbrookresort.com Acces...

Well that's a bummer. And a long swim. I've only ever dove at Sund Rock once and had planned on going a few times this year.

Nice shots. Looks like a fun day, minus the short fill. Next time you guys do this, you should swing by Eagle Harbor and pick me up. Still haven't been out to Blakely rocks.

Nice Photos. The visibility started going downhill after you left. Down to 10-15ft on the Jetty, was better over at the pilings.

Where was the wolf eel at? I missed him on both dives yesterday apparently.

Optical isn't going to have it. They cleared out their stock after the TG-5 came out. Your best bet is to watch ebay, wetpixel, and scubaboard classifieds.

Keystone Sunday 3/25?

Tides are looking good to do Keystone on Sunday. If anyone is interested, I'm planning on doing 2 dives. Splash for the first dive probably around 8am, and second dive to catch full slack splash around 10:30am.

Re: Viz Reports Thread

Did you see a GPO on the upper reef at all? The shop on the island told me there was one towards the bottom of it. I haven't been out there since Jan.
