Re: Whidbey Island Critters

I didn't realize you were still allowed to dive the tire reef at Langley ... I thought they closed that site.

Re: Viz Reports Thread

Had really good vis at Redondo Saturday evening ... easily 25-30 feet. Lots of life out right now ... bay pipefish, gunnels, octos, and all the other things we often see there. It's getting time to start lumpie hunting in the shallows ... last year was a bit of a bust, so I'm hoping for better luck ...

Re: Looking for Buddies for Weekend Dives

Thank you for the suggestions. I'll be sure to check out one of the clubs you mentioned. I wasn't sure how the clubs operated, but from your description that looks like exactly what I need. Appreciate the help! -Isaac Marker Buoys is having our monthly club meeting this Wednesday evening (Nov. 2) a...

Re: Looking for Buddies for Weekend Dives

One suggestion would be to join one of our local dive clubs. Moss Bay is on the east side, and would probably be the most convenient for you. Marker Buoys is centered in Seattle, although their members come from all over the greater Pugetropolis area ... and they're by far the most active. Club dive...

Drop me a line, Taryn ... I know a bit about octos and nudis, and would enjoy buddying up with you for a dive sometime.

Re: Sunrise and Skyline

I was one of those Skyline divers yesterday ... the one with the scooter, going solo. Vis could've been better ... but given all the rain these past couple weeks it could've been a lot worse too. Not as much color on the wall as I'm used to seeing, but I did see most of the usual suspects ... https:...

Flagpole & Elephant Wall today - 10/01/16

Had a nice pair of dives with Deep Diver this morning down in Hood Canal. Vis wasn't real good, and the weather worsened as the morning progressed ... but we got the best out of the day with two good dives. Here's a few pics to share ... https://scontent.fsnc1-2.fna.fbcdn.net/t31.0-8/14542290_637025...

octo dens at Flagpole?

I recall reading on here a few weeks back some reports of octo dens at Flagpole. Would anyone care to share with me where they are? You can PM me the info if you don't want to post it on a public forum.

Back from the Red Sea

It's been a while since I've been in here, partly because I was in Egypt and the Red Sea for a couple weeks. I spent 10 days on the MV Tala with a group of mostly local (PNW) divers. Thought y'all might enjoy seeing some pictures and accounts of the trip. I was there two years ago, and our trip cent...

Re: Oh no - This sucks

I was on a Lake Superior trip with Erik a few years back. Great guy ... he very much loved diving the wrecks. He always came up well after the rest of us, and on the way back to shore he'd recount his dive. His enthusiasm was infectious, and because of his penchant for researching the wrecks before ...

Re: Any recent dogfish sharks?

I know, no picture, it didn't happen. But I saw one at Skyline yesterday, July 27. But it just quickly checked me out and before I could snap a picture, it was gone... The same thing happened to me three days later at the same site. I was taking pictures of a candy-stripe shrimp when my dive buddy ...

No ... they said we weren't allowed to take a camera in there. I figure if I can't take a camera, why go? We did the Coral Garden instead ... which I found to be a bit underwhelming compared to most other sites we did that week. My favorite site at PG was Giant Clam ... a muck dive. There was so muc...

Re: Mystery Sharks of Seattle

There were several sightings at Owens Beach and TTN during the time they were also being spotted in Elliot Bay. My first sighting was in Redondo, near the old pipe boat, with Valerie and Bob Lew. I believe it was in 2002. Over the next three or four years I had several encounters there, as well as O...

Philippines

Just got back from my first trip to the Philippines. I was pleasantly surprised at how good the diving was. We spent a week in Puerta Galera ... a couple hours south (by car) from Manila and a short (1 hour) boat ride out. We then flew south (1-1/2 hours by commercial jet) to Dumagette for another f...

Re: Mystery Sharks of Seattle

IIRC in 2003 we were seeing one or two "naturally" on every dive in the summer at 3Tree. Then in 2004 we stepped it up to seeing 4 to 12 on every dive at 3Tree but that was with encouragement. None of "ours" had tags on them. Wild times. Great show. Fortunate I could participate...
