It was at the low tide so I didn't break 121ft. I also stayed a fair distance off the bottom.

Sponge Hill - Hood Canal

I finally made it to Sponge Hill in the Canal yesterday. I've been wanting to dive this site for a loooooong time. :thumb3d: It was a last minute decision so I planned a short dive due to the depth since I had two more planned dives to conduct afterwards. The weather and currents cooperated so I use...

Re: Boating - What not to do...

WOW! How much damage to the boat, I wonder? They reported no significant damage to prop and shaft before they pulled her off. Sounds like there was some keel damage so I am guessing it's either on the hard or on its way. So is it safe to assume the original incident happened at high tide? Cause tha...

Boating - What not to do...

...with a very expensive boat! We almost had a new wreck at a great dive site. The incident happened this weekend just outside Port Ludlow on Klas Rock. The photo was sent to me by a friend who assisted the vessel. It was hauled off at high tide yesterday. It took 4 boats to do the work. I thi...

So now I guess you're president of the ISAY Club? President, and probably only member too! - Janna If I must, however I suspect there are some Tech Divers out there who may have seen them at depth probably those who have dove the Governor perhaps. I use to commercial fish years ago, and once in a w...

Adult Yelloweye - Hood Canal

Don had some minor engine repairs to do on "Down Time" this week and finished them last evening. The plan for today was to take her out and conduct a few tests to make sure she is good to go for this weekends charters. I brought my dive gear along because if everything went well, I was goi...

Re: Photographer's dilemma - equalizing pressure in dry glov

Here is a different idea that worked for me when I was wearing dry gloves. My undergarment has elastic thumb loops. I kept the loops around my thumbs after putting my hands through the wrist seals and while the loops were still around my thumbs, I donned the dry gloves. This created enough air space...

Nice pic's ETDiver and nice to see you out of your cave! See the sheepish look in my eyes as I emerge knowing we found something cool? 4.jpg 5.jpeg I have a lot of dives in the Hood Canal but have never found Brittle Star. The only place I have seen them in the PNW is the San Juans, Neah Bay and BC,...

Re: "Where are your dive markers?!" - Boating incident

Why do fishermen like to cast in to the bubbles as if they just found a bait ball? :dontknow: Good question. A few years back I was diving from my anchored boat (un-manned flying the diver down flag). About 20 minutes into the dive we could hear another boat approach. Next thing I saw was a Point W...

Re: "Where are your dive markers?!" - Boating incident

And kudos to the deputy that was willing to both listen to you and take action! It helped my cause since he is a diver as well. Also, I was a live boat drifting with engines cut. The other boat was hauling ass. By the time I started the engines and backed down on him it would have been too late so ...

Re: "Where are your dive markers?!" - Boating incident

This is what I did to resolve the issue: - Crafted an email to the local Sheriff, his Marine Sgt. and and Marine Patrol Deputy who I know partrols the area. - Explained what transpired - Quoted the Jefferson County Code as it pertains to Dive Flag regulations - Attached the photo (which if you enlar...

Hi James, nice pic's! It’s funny how I learn who some of the NWDiveClubbers are a day or so after I meet them. #-o Anyway, thanks for coming out and I am glad you got to spend some “quality time” on the top of Pinnacle. On the PDN website. I suspect they were updating on the fly during the recovery and made an assumption when everyone was recovered.
