Nice to meet you too Josh, we're happy to have you aboard \:D/

Yeah, that Maverick guy can be kind of a dick at times, but we all tolerate him because he's opening a new shop and we all want to get our tailpipes polished. :bootyshake:

Hey Sparky, what do you think of coming up a different weekend? I'm still available for a third dive (after the class) on Saturday or Sunday (Sunday is better for me), but I've realized that just about everyone else is unavailable. We had a terrific club dive tonight with 8 of us and it was a great ...

Ok, now I have to stop you from doing that. Nitrox is serious stuff and as a "responsible PADI role model" (Divemaster speak), I can't allow you to endanger yourself or others by using Nitrox without training, even if max depth makes it safe. Why do you think we need Nitrox BJ? We can just...

Yo, can you guys swing by and pick me up? Driving to Redmond and then back to Seattle doesn't make much sense. I can further persuade you by pointing out that we'd be carpool on 520 (or you'd just have better conversation on I-90). :bounce:

Dave, are you coming? I got my manifold last night so most likely Dave and I will be making this a 2 1/2 hour excursion through the fine city of rattlesnake lake (ok, I know it won't be that long since diverdown mentioned that it's pretty chilly).

And yes, I am nitrox ready.

Why do we need to cancel it? We can easily plan for altitude, that's what you've got some DM-in-training boys around for.

diverdown has got the right attitude. I make it a point to get certifications from different instructors because every one of them has something else to offer, beyond the standards set forth by the particular agency (though I have to admit I've gone PADI all the way).

Sparky, I'll be out at Alki, we can do Cove 2 if you want after I do the two Cove 3 dives with the Open Water class. I figure you'd want to do something more spectacular than just 'ol Cove 2 though, so you let me know what you want to do. The OW class should be done with their stuff by around Noon o...

I'm new to diving (I think I start every post that way....gotta work on that....) So I don't know much about real-life DIR divers, but from what I've seen on the internet- the ones to watch out for are the brand-new, only have 27 dives and just finished their DIR-Fundamentals course divers. They ca...

Cool BASSMAN, I'd love to know more about Teal. What did it cost for the (I assume) 2 dives?

Wow, I just went and looked and these guys depart at sane times, anyone want to put together a trip for one of these upcoming weekends?

It stands for "Do It Right", which I think relates to the unfortunate opinion of some of its subscribers that everyone else is "doing it wrong". DIR diving has resulted in a lot of improvements in the way things are done though, so it's worth learning about.

No problem Nailer, you're more than welcome to join. I'll talk to Doug about meeting earlier so that we can potentially do a second dive with you guys BJ (Maverick). We'll sort it all out tomorrow.

Nailer, I'm going to PM you my digits.

I talked to Dougie and he is down to dive at around 6-ish (so that means 6:30 in nwdiveclub-speak). I can't stay out that late most likely Maverick. I'll bring two tanks in case but I have to get my DM homework done and from the looks of it I will procrastinate all week long.

Web-based Dive Logs?

Yesterday Ken and I were discussing web-based dive logs. Do any of you use one? I came across this one today, but it doesn't work with Macintosh. I personally made my own dive log in Adobe Illustrator. At the time I didn't think online dive logs were good enough yet, plus I'm always afraid that they...

Scientists Study Hundreds of Dead Dolphins

ZANZIBAR, TANZANIA — Scientists tried to discover Saturday why hundreds of dolphins washed up dead on a beach popular with tourists on the northern coast of Zanzibar. Among other possibilities, marine biologists were examining whether U.S. Navy sonar threw the animals off course. Read the article.
