Hey Sparky, what do you think of coming up a different weekend? I'm still available for a third dive (after the class) on Saturday or Sunday (Sunday is better for me), but I've realized that just about everyone else is unavailable. We had a terrific club dive tonight with 8 of us and it was a great ...

Sparky, I'll be out at Alki, we can do Cove 2 if you want after I do the two Cove 3 dives with the Open Water class. I figure you'd want to do something more spectacular than just 'ol Cove 2 though, so you let me know what you want to do. The OW class should be done with their stuff by around Noon o...

I'm new to diving (I think I start every post that way....gotta work on that....) So I don't know much about real-life DIR divers, but from what I've seen on the internet- the ones to watch out for are the brand-new, only have 27 dives and just finished their DIR-Fundamentals course divers. They ca...

Cool BASSMAN, I'd love to know more about Teal. What did it cost for the (I assume) 2 dives?
Wow, I just went and looked and these guys depart at sane times, anyone want to put together a trip for one of these upcoming weekends?

It stands for "Do It Right", which I think relates to the unfortunate opinion of some of its subscribers that everyone else is "doing it wrong". DIR diving has resulted in a lot of improvements in the way things are done though, so it's worth learning about.

Web-based Dive Logs?
Yesterday Ken and I were discussing web-based dive logs. Do any of you use one? I came across this one today, but it doesn't work with Macintosh. I personally made my own dive log in Adobe Illustrator. At the time I didn't think online dive logs were good enough yet, plus I'm always afraid that they...

Scientists Study Hundreds of Dead Dolphins
ZANZIBAR, TANZANIA — Scientists tried to discover Saturday why hundreds of dolphins washed up dead on a beach popular with tourists on the northern coast of Zanzibar. Among other possibilities, marine biologists were examining whether U.S. Navy sonar threw the animals off course. Read the article.
