Thursday South Sound Dive @ TTN! 7/7/11

Bassman, glad to see you made lemonade out of lemons! Also glad you found something cool. Btw - I was the solo diver shaking my head in frustration. I agree, that was the worst viz I've seen too! Nice to meet you and I will have to come out to dive with you all soon.

Edmonds on 5/14

I am planning to dive EUP this Saturday with a friend, not sure what time yet. It looks like the tides may be swinging that day. Since I have only dove once there I am a bit concerned about the current and surface swim. My buddy is also pretty new to Washington diving, he has dove a lot in Monterey ...

Looking for a Fiji travel/dive buddy

I recently won a trip to waidroka bay resort in Fiji. It is for 1 person, and I can travel by myself, which I don't mind that much. However, if someone is interested in going with I'd love to have a PNW dive buddy as I know how good the divers are up here! It will be about $2,600 +\- and I am booked...

Very strange. Kinda looks like a fireworm or something like that. Can't wait to find out.

Congratulations are in order

Good question. I have been asking since they notified me a couple weeks ago. I think they will show them in the next magazine. They showed them at the expo but the slideshow was so fast I couldn't remember them.

Photo storage advice...

Not sure if this is a photo question????

Any good recommendations for 1 or 2 TB storage drives. I'd also like to connect it to my router or wireless. Any recommendations on central access hard drives?

Re: Congratulations are in order

Thanks Mike! There were some great photos in the competition. What an honor to be selected amongst such established photographers! Here are a few of my favorites. All the photos were good but these are amazing (IMO). PNW UW photographers that have tried to shoot lumpies, sea spiders, and warbonnets ...

Re: Lumpsucker at Redondo today

Found this little guy at Redondo last night. It was at 12' just north of Salty's. It was really on the move and would not hold still for a good shot :-) There was almost no large life but we saw 7 stubby squid (including the smallest one I have ever seen). I zoomed in to show the grains of sand. The...

Re: Looking for a good charter in Oahu, HI in July

I agree with ArticDiver. I think a can light may be too much even for a night dive. During the day I turned off all lights the critters usually scatter when you hit them with light during the day. I would rent a light in Hawaii rather than buy one or call one of the contacts there and ask what is re...

Btw- Dave will coordinate rental gear for you too. I always spend the 50 and pack my own gear, but that is my personal preference.

Re: Congratulations are in order

Yes, congrats to everyone who placed in this year's competition! I am pretty sure I saw Jan's name under several photos. The slide show went very fast so it was difficult to register name/category/photo.

BTW - Great video! Well deserving.

Anemone eating kelp???

I came across this strange site. I circled around to get a closer look and sure enough, the anemone was chomping down on kelp. I didn't know kelp was part of their diet?

Shaggy Mouse at Redondo

I have tried to shoot the Shaggy Mouse Nudibranch for a long time. I never seem to be able to get a clear pic of them. I found this one in the open and snapped several good shots.
