I promised my wife a camera
when she passed the open water test and became certified. Nothing like a Natgeo set-up but something to capture some underwater pictures. She wants to share with friends and family or to post on the web, her facebook stuff. I'm torn between the Sealife brand and the Olympus TG4 with the Ikelite hous...

Anyone diving Edmonds dive park May 13
Never been there, just saw the videos and read the rave reviews. I'm coming from Eastern Washington to Bellevue for a business meeting that week I don't have a dive buddy there to go with, or possibly somebody experienced with the park to give me the tour! Any interest in this from the members here?

Re: Redondo this weekend
Well, the way this worked out was a bit screwy, humans are a peculiar lot! People that were suppose to be arriving for checkout dives do not show, others from previous missed checkouts do show unannounced as if the school and instructor has a surplus of drive instructors handy, and then those that s...

Redondo this weekend
I will be at Redondo with my wife this weekend. She is going to try to complete her final open water dive requirement. I would like to meet up with somebody that wants to dive there. She will be in the class for the weekend. So I cannot have her as a dive buddy. The only catch to this is if another ...

Re: New to the forums
I will have to be in Redondo early May. My wife is completing her open water certification dives then. I'll need a dive buddy for the couple days I'm there. Coming From a warm shallow water dive background and using 7mm full wetsuit with another 7mm overlay shorts/vest hood my buoyancy is much more ...

What is you favorite recreational tank size
I suppose this depends somewhat on the physical capability of the person as well. I personally have taken a Liking to a HP100 filled to 3000psi, That's about 90cf if I remember. My wife would struggle with this size tank. She still likes the steel LP 80's but that makes us a bit mismatched when we d...

curious about SSI dive credit
In my log book I have to fill out a nice reasonable level of dive detail. It's a great recap to provide future recollection of events. I like this a lot. However at the bottom of the page there is a place for the dive professional to sign off. If I dive with a buddy there is no dive professional wit...

Re: brightness of handheld light for the sound
As the Op of this I guess I started out with a bang..... new to the site and such a popular conversation! Thanks for the feedback and the ideas. Plenty to consider. I dove Redondo Saturday and Sunday. Learned a lot about the visibility of the sound at least at this location. Again thanks for the wel...

Re: New to diving the Puget sound
Great, Thanks for the offer. Just came back from Redondo beach, Had several dives there over the weekend. Water on Saturday was rough, you could have surfed in ( ha ha) Sunday was beautiful and calm. However, the water was only 47 deg at 48-60 feet. I have a 7mm wetsuit not a dry suit. It was on the...

Anchor line locator strobe
Maybe this is already available? I was discussing with my wife a potential to create a perimeter of dive area based on the visual of a strobe connected to the anchor line. So long as you can see the strobe, you're in the area we all feel comfortable in. If you cannot see it you have drifted or moved...

Dive watch
Does anyone actually use a dive watch anymore? I'll bet that 90% of the dive watches sold are for a kind of status only. I have two, and Omega Seamaster which I don't use at all. And a small swiss watch makers all Bronze watch that I bought in Cape Town South Africa 20 years ago. That one I wear dai...

Re: brightness of handheld light for the sound
Thanks for the feedback guys, great points on the blinding nature of a light. We have all seen the poor use of bright lights on the highway while driving. No different under water. I had a light years ago that was two power levels. One mild and easy on the eyes with great battery life. The other pow...

To many options!
Okay, I'm an old school guy that started diving 30 years ago. Not much in the last 10 since moving to the USA from South Africa though. For me, diving involved dive tables decent math skills, a dive watch with a rotating bezel, and a nice sized side order of paranoia. Today I have the very strong de...

I'm looking at handheld a light for searching some tight spots for octopus and other entertaining life in the sound. What lights are you using and opinions on power?

Wet suits for the sound
Probably a common thread here, but being new to this site and to the Puget sound diving I am hoping to get some opinions from the more experienced folks here. I currently have a Bare 7mm suit called the Velocity (Their model name). I also have the step in vest/shorts combination with the hood to wea...

New to diving the Puget sound
Hello folks. I've been a long time diver internationally Singapore, SE Asia, and mostly South Africa for my business doing the shark cage dives out of cape town near seal island. I was not a certified diver for the longest time because it was not a legal requirement. However, recently my wife and I ...
