Re: Your Thoughts on Liquivision

+1 for the Petrel. I have one and love it.

The xDeep Blacks are no longer back-ordered so you can actually get them pretty easily. They looks great, very small, and seem to have very nice features. I'll be interested to see what people think of them over time.

FS: Waterproof Combat Men's Semi-Drysuit (Size: MLT)

Selling my Waterproof Combat Semi-Drysuit. Served me well in cold New England waters but I've moved on to a drysuit and the semi-dry is taking up some space. The suit has 20-30 dives on it. The drysuit zipper was meticulously cared for and still in new condition. Seals were never trimmed. All zipper...

Mukilteo, Cove 2, 3 Tree, or Redondo on Monday?

I'm looking for a buddy for a dive tomorrow. Really I'm happy to go anywhere.

Anyone planning a dive or interested? I'm game for anything. :-)

Re: Craigslist deals

Thanks Laura, Yup, before I buy a battery my first step will be a leak and to figure out the buoyancy characteristics. Should help me narrow down suitable batt options. I have a couple ideas I'm toying with if the buoyancy is more negative than I'd like, but the weekend should give me a better idea ...

Re: Craigslist deals

Well...I picked up the $350 one. Honestly, it looks in great condition. All terminals and connections seem to be clean, the shroud and props seem to be in brand new cond, trigger seems to work as does the reed switch. Motor was a 24V brushed motor, one of the early ones before they used brushless, b...

Driving over altitude after diving - best practices?

I was contemplating a dive on Saturday morning followed by a trip to Leavenworth in the afternoon and wanted to see what kind of restrictions that might place on me. I'm not going to follow through with it, but I did find: a) generally a lack of any comprehensive guidance wrt to driving over altitud...

Diving Whytecliff and Porteau Cove

I've had to come up to Vancouver for a work-visa appointment, and since I have to wait up here until they return my passport I figured I might as well get in a little bit of diving. :-) Met up with a local on Thursday at Whytecliff for two dives. The first was at the Daymarker or Anemone Gardens. Ex...

The Mk3 is just the jacket however, correct?

As in you would buy the Mk3 and layer over the Mk2 John?

WTB: Whites Thermal Fusion

I'm looking to buy a used thermal fusion undergarment. I suspect I'm looking for a size L/XL in the thermal fusion, though the 2XL/3Xl could also work...

I currently have the Whites Mk2 in a size XL and the Fusion Sport dry suit in size 2XL/3XL.

Thanks!

Re: Shearwater Petrel GF Settings

It's not that I'm nervous about deco at 100ft, but more that I'm confused and trying to reconcile the apparent "extreme conservatism" of a technical dive computer against a recreational one or recreational tables (which one would expect to be even more conservative). I want to make sure th...

Re: Vancouver-area diving suggestions?

Thanks! Maybe I'll try both. Porteau has a nice campsite and despite the fact that my trip is work related it still works for my schedule to camp if I want to. Thinking I'll stay/camp at Porteau, do some morning dives and some work during the week, and then do Whytecliff and Sea Dragon on the weeken...

Re: Shearwater Petrel GF Settings

I guess I'm just perplexed because my Petrel definitely told me that I had 2 minutes before I hit NDL at 100ft (or in that low vicinity) and we had dropped almost straight to that depth. Took about 6-7 minutes to get there dropping from 0-30-40-60-80-100 ft increments. GF was set to 30/70. The PADI ...

Re: Vancouver-area diving suggestions?

Cool, thanks!

Thinking I'll get a campsite at Porteau Cove Provincial Park whilst I'm up there and maybe do a few dives there during the week. I'll also contact the Sea Dragon folks about a dive on the weekend. :-)

Vancouver-area diving suggestions?

I'll be in Vancouver for work May 7-13th. That's over a weekend. :-) I'd love to get in some of that excellent BC diving I've heard so much about. Any suggestions? Not interested in dives below 120ft, but otherwise I'm game for anything awesome. Heard good things about Nanaimo, sea-lions at Hornby i...

FOUND: Something pink at Cove 2!

I found something pink at Cove 2 near the Honeybear on Wed (4/16) night, around 6:30pm.

It has a lanyard attached to it. If you're missing something, feel free to describe it to me! :-)

Cheers.

Shearwater Petrel GF Settings

I was diving down to the I-Beams yesterday and by the time I arrived there, pretty much a straight swim to the top of the I-beams too at around 100ft, my Petrel informed me that I had 2 minutes at 100ft before I exceeded my NDLs. Given that my buddies had 15+min on their Oceanic puck computers I was...
