Worms

Still out of commission due to dental problems - the tooth was finally extracted after three attempts to clean up the root canals - so here are some creatures representing my present mood, found on dives in the past ](*,) http://farm1.static.flickr.com/200/476373464_f9624a5998_o.jpg http://farm1.sta...

Here's a link to my photo show ... http://photoshow.comcast.net/watch/Fh8pv7uT Also, on the dive with Tom and Doug, I saw a tiny nudibranch (on the hull of the Honey Bear) that I could not ID. It's a poor quality photo, but the thing was so tiny that the camera didn't know what I was trying to focu...

Alien no more!

OK guys. It is safe to return to the waters. According to Greg Jensen, shrimp expert, it is a shrimp larva. His quote: " It is a shrimp larva of the genus Pandalopsis, either P. dispar or one of my babies, the sparkling shrimp P. lucidirimicola. These are very large (for larvae) and hatch at qu...

The Lowly barnacle

Now here is a critter which doesn't run away when you ready to snap a picture =D> And they are everywhere!. If you spend enough time underwater, they will grow on you too. Ask the whales.. And pilings. And boat bottoms.... And it is a relative of crabs and shrimps, and like them, it has to shed its ...

Thank you John for the lead, I e-mailed her the picture. Hopefully we get some answer to this and I will be able add the name to it, so others can learn too. And maybe get a better picture of it. My point and shoot camera shutter delay is not well suited for fast swimming, shy creatures, however ali...

Alien from Keystone

Looking for some suggestions on this 3/4 inch long critter I encountered at Keystone. Shallow water, near surface, swimming backwards, some kind of shrimp? Not in my books... :book: Thanks.

Another view of the critter. As for the diver - diving one day before root canal procedure. Please note that I did not mean Hood Canal :pale:

So well written report about a sad occurrence. I always worry when I hear about plans to extend Langley marina or Keystone ferry landing. Are we slowly, but surely eliminating fish and critter habitats ? And places to dive? :pale:

Dubious Dorid is not that common, great find! I had only one encounter at Langley last year, what was interesting, I collected two specimen for Dave, when I took them home, they turned brown, more like the ones in your photo..

In defense of Langley

For those folks who experienced only tires, sunflower stars and silt at Langley, I want to tell, that it is not all bad, one just has to look little bit harder. Yesterday, Monday the 19th, Painted Greenling showing off its future family :) http://farm1.static.flickr.com/187/428699220_5ab70ecf6a_o.jp...

I am so glad you guys made it and had a good dive here on Whidbey, sorry I did not make it today, the weather was just right for catching up with paperwork which I neglected whole week ( I was diving :supz: ) and I figured there will be enough divers crowding the Jetty without me adding to the multi...

Doug, your plan is a good one, of course one really doesn't know, I have dove Keystone when there was current when none was predicted.. Even if current is running strong, if you stay away from the end of jetty, you should OK. Keep close to the rocks where all the life is, cannot get lost :) As far a...

Great photos! Looking at the fish photo, it looks to me like Great Sculpin, we might ask Janna. The eggs on the first photo look exactly like the ones I took at Langley, and that was Buffalo Sculpin. So they could be sculpin eggs..Just my 2 cents worth... :salute:

I am curious, can you tell me if the spawning happened at slack water, low or high tide - I am trying to find out if it is predictable, maybe somebody already knows and let me know? Thanks again for posting...
