Re: Redondo 1/23 - Calling Mr. Bailey...

I dived the north side on Sunday evening and found 3 lumpies in 8 feet of water. They were shallower than the eel grass on the rocks.

Nice work. I'm always jealous of people getting video of GPOs out in the open. I never seem to come across them out of their dens, much less cooperating with the camera! It's an outrage really! :-)

Sea Lion vs Giant Pacific Octopus

While preparing to dive Blakely Rock this morning the water was disturbed by the thrashing of a massive sea lion. It looked like it was feeding on something. I managed to get some footage of the battle. It's choppy because I had the camera setup for underwater use without image stabilization, but yo...

Re: Another Redondo night dive

I think I saw that same squid on Thursday, it had a half tentacle right in the middle. That was a total lucky catch on video for me. I was about to surface and it came up to check me out. I had enough time to flip the macro diopter, zoom out and hit record before it bolted into the dark. (Of course...

I'd like to join in as well. In 12 years of Puget sound diving I've actually never dived this site. If anyone would like to carpool from around the FremontWallingford let me know.

Reef Hooks

I'm planning a trip to Palau this spring and was wondering about the use of reef hooks. I've done some searching online and get the basic gist but wanted to hear from those with experience using them. Here are the main points I've picked up: 1. When preparing to hook the reef, get negatively buoyant...

Yeah, I hadn't seen one bury themselves completely like that before. It must of been really annoyed by the lights. I like the way it curled in its tentacles at the end.

Another Redondo night dive

Dived Redondo after dark yesterday. It was a record for me coming in a 2 hours. And, my suit leaked in the right knee which made it extra cold. For that duration you can tell it wasn't a deep dive as I explored south of the boat launch. I didn't find any lumpies and seem to have bad luck in the rega...

Anyone know the secret to getting the gate opened at Possession Point Fingers? I've tried calling the ranger, but have only been able to get voice mail.

Thanks!

Re: Fox Island Bridge

I take it that you kicked out on the surface and then worked your way back underwater?? How far did you get out?? Did you nail slack at the bridge? How long before the current started up again??! Tom, yes, we surface swam out to the piling marked in the attached image and made our way back to shore...

Fox Island Bridge

Dived Fox Island Bridge and West wall yesterday. It's been years since I hit the bridge and I had forgotten its interesting characteristics. The pilings are covered in giant acorn barnacles, but they are very smart. Since we dived at slack, there was little current and the giant barnacles seemed to ...
