Sorry Curt! Wish I could give you a magic pill so we could dive together again but look at it this way, You live on a boat and can go when ever and where ever you want while I'm landlocked. :partyman:

fantastic news! Im' a diver again!

After the announcement of my new critter and the trips up to PT for the Port meetings I decided I just had to get back in the water! So I'm in PT again and I did 3 dives this week and it feels good to get back in. The first dive was pretty much a circle jerk after 8 months out of the water all those...

Re: Whoopee! Big news for me!

I think the common name should be Dusty's Diminutive Slug. I had to go the Google a couple of times to understand all of the article. Biology has come a long way from the days of "bag it and tag it". I noticed the pictures were taken by your brother Rick. It also fails to surprise me that...

Re: Tire Reef Removal?

Capt. Tires are indeed shitty habitat but I would at least like to see a genuine effort to generate new habitat instead of this pillage and burn doctrine. Jeff my take on this is the DNR is simply picking the easiest targets with the least cost and the biggest PR impact. There is no real reason or r...

Re: Update, Hudson Point

No real loss. It is pretty much in the initial stages anyway. A workshop with the engineers that are doing the proposal for the state and the port. Karen mills and I impressed the port officials on the 11th with our knowledge of what lies beneath the water up there and how important it is to the sur...

Re: Tire Reef Removal?

I hadn't heard anything about it but it's a good idea. However they will need to put in a barrier line similar to the one in cove 2 to prevent divers from wandering into the fishing area which is a safety hazard and causes stress between the two communities.

To a good home, Bare cd4 drysuit

I have my old Bear cDx4 drysuit that has just been in the closet for quite awhile. It's a 3/4x back zip fits 5'10 to 6', 210 to 250lbs needs a new neck seal but the boots size12 and wrist seals are fine. The zipper is new and I have an undergarment tooI would love to see a veteran, active military o...

Re: Update, Hudson Point

The workshop on the jetty repair is Monday morning at 09:30. I will be there. It would be nice to have some bodies there to show interest on the part of the diving community. At the Port Office 333 Benedict Street, Port Townsend, WA It is on the east side if the port public launch ramp across from t...

Re: Update, Hudson Point

Thanks Dusty ... you know that site way better than I do. Perhaps I'll call Don over at Octopus Gardens and get his input. I'll be hosting an out of town guest ... also an experienced diver. ... Bob (Grateful DIver) You should be OK as long as the south wind isn't blowing and you play it safe. My a...

Re: Update, Hudson Point

I will say that it doesn't look like a great current window though. I am sure it is do-able for someone of your experiance level but you won't have a very long slack. I would recommend 12 o'clock splash for mid dive slack.

Re: Update, Hudson Point

The site is fine as long as the whether co-operates! The jetty walkway is blocked off and they say it is unsafe structurally but they haven't done anything that would make it unsafe for diving. What damage there is is on the marina entrance side If I hear anything to the contrary I'll let you know.

Re: Update, Hudson Point

Showing pictures of the life that is currently there would be huge, IMO. "This site still has my personal record for most species identified on a single cold water dive" Mine too! many times over. Over 20 species of Nudibranchs in one dive! PS king carbs, heart crabs, golfball crabs, scal...

Update, Hudson Point

A couple of months ago a guy in a large yacht ran into the jetty At Hudson point and did some pretty bad damage. (to the jetty, we don't care about his junior ocean liner!) The crux of which is they are going to have to place the which amounts to pretty much tearing out the old jetty and building a ...

Whoopee! Big news for me!

I think pretty much every one knows how much of a nudibranch nut I am. Well a couple of years ago I found a critter at Point Hudson that stumped me and Dave Behrens so Dave did a bunch of research and told me it was a new species. Dave compiled a paper and presented it to the academics and I have re...

Re: Port townsend commissioners meeting

Yes I will be there as well as Karen Mills and her husband. I'm hoping that some of the clubs that dive there will send someone and other Hudson regulars will show too. I realize that it is a bad time for working folks but I'd like to see some representation from the dive community.

Port townsend commissioners meeting

For those who follow this sort of thing the port commissioners will be meeting Monday afternoon to discus repair or replacement of the Hudson point jetty and dolfin. Probably not very well known but in October a rather large yacht hit the jetty pier and caused some serious damage. Now the port has t...

Re: Bandito lawsuit?

I know from nothing about the actual event but from what I am hearing Contaminated gas was not the problem. I'm thinking, excited new boat diver goes of the back with tank not on and BC not inflated. Hence panic and sinking. It's the only explanation that fits. I have rolled off the boat without my ...
