Re: Viz Reports Thread

5/10 Saltwater Park. Once below 50 feet depth it was a respectable 20 feet of viz. Actually, much better than I expected.

Re: Bonaire trip

Thanks tangfish. I use a sony cx550 camera in a light and motion bluefin housing with 2 sola 1200s. I didn't even notice the green moray was going after a fish till I slowed down the video and noticed it escaping!

Bonaire trip

Back in February I made my first trip to Bonaire. In fact, it was my first tropical trip ever and it was awesome to be free of a dry suit and on an island surrounded by dive sites. Coming from the puget sound, I had difficulty doing video having never experienced so much ambient light! It took me th...

I'd like to say I get the still shots from peak buoyancy control and very steady hands. But, the truth is I use a tripod. It's the only way to capture tiny creatures without the shakes.

To answer my own question, there isn't a buoy on china wall but there is in the east reef. Was out there today.

Blakely Rock Buoys?

Has anyone been to Blakely Rock recently and can tell me if buoys are in place for China Wall and the East reef?

Thanks!

Re: Tripod testing at Redondo

Thanks all. Keith, yeah, I know what you mean. I got tired of making myself dizzy looking at my own macro video. So, I went large and bought this trip. I considered building one, but once the parts were all assembled the price was pretty high too. http://www.backscatter.com/HostedStore.LassoApp?-Res...

Tripod testing at Redondo

Since it's getting dark earlier my buddy and I took a first night dive of the Fall at Redondo last night. I was using the dive to practice using a tripod with the video camera. While it's a pain to carry and awkward to work with, the results doing macro work are dramatically improved. Managed to cap...

Re: Missing diver off Blakely Rocks

I can add a bit of post accident information as my buddy and I found the body yesterday afternoon off Blakely Rock. Originally we planned two dives on KVI tower, but after we drove down to redondo to launch the boat, we discovered the parking lot completely full with no place to park the truck and t...

Agate drift dive

With the super moon and ultra low tide today there was a ripping 7 knot current through agate passage. So my buddy and I took his boat out to do some flying underwater through the passage. It was a flooding current so we went north to south and tried to time getting beneath the bridge right at the p...

Redondo Lumpsucker hunt

Went looking to video a Lumpsucker Sunday night, but it was a fruitless search. Anyone have some tips to finding these critters? There was a giant crowd at Salty's for Easter, but my buddy and I had the water to ourselves. The particulate was starting to thicken. I'll try and attach a video for the ...

Re: Intro...

Thanks for the friendly welcome. I'm in Seattle and dive mainly central and south puget sound. Every now and then I get out to the Strait. Kayak diving is a lot of fun, but a bit work intensive. It adds an adventure to the adventure of diving. Looks like there's a chance to encounter cuttle fish in ...

Intro...

Howdy, I've been a lurker for a long, long while, and am finally complying with the intro request! I earned my certification 10 years ago and dive regularly in the sound. I'm fortunate to have a co-worker (I talked into learning to dive) who owns a boat. I also talked him into kayak diving, which, i...
