Re: New fishy at Les Davis

Wow, that's really great news. I haven't heard of them this far south in the sound either. No one has posted a photo of one from the sound on our site at least so this is very exciting! I hope that means there are more to come!!!

Re: New Entry/Mid-level Camera Advice

I was just looking at the Ikelite housing for the W-300 (13.2mp) and it looks like a really good set up also. Yeah, I saw that too. I wanted a smaller housing than the Ikelite and I'm not sure how the internal flash would work with it. Ikelite is a great case though and 13MP - WOW. Sony makes a cas...

Re: New Entry/Mid-level Camera Advice

Looks cool! Can't wait to see what pics you'll get with the new setup. Just remember the "underwater" settings that cameras come with are just white-balance settings for tropical (blue) waters and are pretty useless in our emerald green waters. - Janna :) That's a good point. I don't put ...

Re: New Entry/Mid-level Camera Advice

Okay, I looked up all the options and did some price comparisons and this is what I think I'm going to get: Sony just launched a new 12.1mp Cybershot with a wide angle lense that shoots High-Dev video and has an underwater photo and underwater video settings. The camera is $250 (and uses the same me...

New Entry/Mid-level Camera Advice

Allrighty, I've been lurking around on this forum contemplating the purchase of a new camera and decided I wasn't buying ANYTHING until I got some advice from you all. I'm replacing an outdated SONY Cybershot with Sony Housing, which honestly I loved, but it finally gave up the ghost. The model is n...

Re: Alki Pipeline

Here's our description of the dive site on The Perfect Dive website: http://www.theperfectdive.com/DEF-Site.asp?sID=8 I've found this site to be a great night dive option. It is well lit and trafficked on the street so we feel safe leaving the vehicles and the entry is easy. We have found dogfish on...

Parasitic Crab ID?

I have often found these little crabs inside of horse clams and goeducks when you clean them. I've always wondered what they were so I finally snapped a shot of one. Can anyone tell me their name and a little information about them? Thanks!

Sculpin help

GiAnn shot this little jewel in the Channel Islands, I'm guessing it is a sculpin. I don't have any reference materials for that region so could someone help me identify it? Thanks!

Thanks Bassman, I sure is a lot of fun. We keep at it for all you guys out there so I hope everyone keeps using it. We are working with the REEF organization and I'm going to synch up all the common names of the critters to match the ones they use so that it is a better tool for REEF surveyors. Got ...

Re: Book Review and Corrections! Shore Diving near Seattle

Thanks for the review Janna, I thumbed through a copy, noticed a few mistakes, and in the end didn't buy it. I'm not sure I agree with the idea that it is a good resource for new divers when there is some obvious misdirection in there. The last thing we want to do is start confusing people. I would ...

Hmmm, they have some interesting sites from around the world for travelers. http://www.ThePerfectDive.com 's still got 'em beat for local dive sites though! \:D/ BTW - We just recently added the two shilshole barges that are near the Omar and did a revision for Saltwater State Park. Under the Sea in 3D at IMAX

My wife and I just took the kids to see the Under the Sea movie in 3D at the IMAX theater in Seattle. Man, it was great! It was well filmed covering coral reefs and some of their inhabitants but the 3D effects really looked like you could reach out and tough it all. Best 3D i've ever seen. The kids ...
