Re: Thursday, 4/19/2012

Hi!
Mind if I join you guys? For me it would likely be the second dive only.
What's on the south side of the boat ramp, I don't know that site super well.

Re: Nipple sponges at Day Island

Nice pic showing them off with the crab. Where about? One the wall? N/S, Depth? Just curious. Hi They were found along the top edge of the wall, just a bit south from the cutout on the wall perpendicular from the shore entrance. Where there's the small ledge that runs parallel just above the main w...

Nipple sponges at Day Island

Hi. I found these nipple sponges at Day Island this morning, I thought they were pretty cool. I didn't know they had nipple sponges in these parts, but maybe I missed them!

Looking for night dive buddies w-f jan 4-6

Hi! I'm looking for night dive buddies to go diving w-f jan 4-6. I'm interested in photography diving, but up for anything between Tacoma and Everett. I also have a scooter and rebreather if extended range is your thing, but I try to pair well with anyone. I'm mostly just interested in getting wet a...

Sure enough, it is in NW Shore Dives! Thanks for the tip, I didn't remember even hearing about this site before.

Any other info on the site or critter collection appreciated!

Richmond Beach Park critter collection

Hi My kids' marine life class is having a field trip to Richmond Beach next week to do some beach combing. A buddy and I are thinking of going on a dive to bring up some critters for the class to see. Does anybody know anything about diving Richmond Beach Park? It looks like a long walk to the beach...

Interesting nudis

Hi All
I came across these interesting guys this weekend in the SJI's. I haven't seen these before, and I couldn't find them in my id books. Any ideas?

Re: Coveting a CCR at Redondo

Hey James Good to meet you and great to dive with you! Nice dive report. I also really liked to see all the little Plainfin Midshipman out there too. Thanks for helping me sort out the issues before the dive :) I'm coveting your camera in response. Great sailfin sculpin pic! Wow! Probably the best I...

Edmonds Oil Dock

Hi I've heard from many that edmonds oil dock is no more, and the site is now desolate. Yet I heard from somebody else that the pilings are still there, just cut below the surface? (although near the surface was of course the best part of the site). Can somebody confirm? If nothing else, it seems li...

Re: Keystone Cleaning Station

Hi All. Cool find on the ling! Last time I was at keystone, I saw some crabs (decorator crabs?) cleaning a gunnel. At first, I thought the gunnel was dead. Took a closer look and the gunnel was not dead. In fact, the gunnel was not even sedate or anything, because eventually I scared him off, and he...

Re: DIW & Titlow 3/19/09

Thanks for the dive guys! Next time I'd be happy to navigate and show you more of the wall :) Really, you guys were a bit early, we felt total slack about 35 minutes into our dive and we were later than you. And there's no bouy, other than the one sometimes seen just to the left outside the entrace....

Three Tree N - Dec 30 - I got buzzed

Cameron and I dove Three Tree last night. It was my first dive since October, so it was good to get back in the water (was out due to bad back, then the holidays and snow) Some of the sightings: A beautiful pink tritona Several small white sea pens or sea whips (not sure which, ~110') Lots of stubby...

Re: Strange Encounter

Interesting! Once a buddy and I were looking at a red octo during a night dive, and a seal come down and ate him. We felt kind of bad because we were illuminating the octo. So yes that does happen. The octo tried to wrap his legs around the snout of the seal, but the seal ate him up in a couple bite...

Re: Is it legal to snorkel with Salmon?

Hi All I snorkeled with salmon in the Cedar River a couple years ago. It was great, got to see them up close, readying their nests, and courting the females. We snorkeled in about a foot of water, just held on to the rocks on the bottom, no fins required. I think the females liked my orange drysuit ...

Re: Cove 2 report

Isn't the monolith concrete? This was wood. Big lopsided shape at least 6-7 feet tall. Seal came by and silted the place out before I could video it or get a good look.

Good to hear other people are seeing the octo!

hectocotylus?

Hi Wondering if I've captured the hectocotylus of an octo on this picture. Note there are no suction cups on the end of the small arm ending you see in the middle. What do you think? This was a pic of the waiting male outside the honeybear [mentioned in http://www.nwdiveclub.com/viewtopic.php?f=28&a...

Cove 2 report

Cameron and I went for a scooter dive last night at cove 2... in hopes of finding a sixgill... We spent 57 minutes between the depths of 90 to 105 feet, zooming way down south of cove2. No luck on the sixgill sighting. But we did see a couple wrecks we haven't seen before (one huge, pretty much unre...

Re: Great Skyline Wall/Keystone Jetty dives!

What an interesting guy. The guy looked like a Leprechaun with wooden clogs. He was returning polished rocks to the beach, yet cursing under his breath how he could barely resist picking them back up again because they were so beautiful... :) Was complaining and very concerned about the knots people...
