The Grunt Sculpin are back!

So happy it's Rhamphocottus season again.

These ridiculous creatures never cease to amuse.
This was one of three we saw yesterday at the Junkpile:

Ctenophore id help needed.

Hello fellow invert enthusiasts. I need some help positively id-ing this comb jelly before I include it in a video for students. I think it may be a Bolinopsis infundibulum but need to make sure. I shot the video below at Three Tree Point last night and the creature was 2- 2 1/2 inches long. http://...

Worm ID help needed

I found this worm at the base of some eel grass on a night dive at Redondo. Have looked through my Marine Life of the Pacific and haven't found an exact match. Is it some type of spaghetti worm?

Re: Whidbey Island Critters

That Cove 2 Ling is the most aggressive I have encountered as well. It was guarding a 25 foot radius around the egg mass on the horizontal piling and actually bit my dive buddy. If the Lings were like that at Edmonds no one would ever get in the water.:)

Re: Outrageous Deal on Camera and Housing

Advice needed.
Do folks think the EPl - 1 would be a step up, down or lateral from my current Canon G10 in a canon housing?
I really like the macro on the G10, Would the Olympus compare?

Re: Giant Pacific Octopus mating?

A few months back I came across an octo denned in Cove 2 and shot this picture of what, based on Greg's comment in this thread, I now believe to be a spermatophore being blown out of the siphon. Does anyone know how long the females hold on to the spermatophore before ejecting it or just what is goi...
