Re: Interesting article on deep-water "Artificial reefs"
The idea I get from the article isnt so much that a species will live in that one spot where the container is, but that over time, if enough containers fall on mud flats in shipping lanes, it will create basically an artificial bridge across ocean-sized expanses that could allow a species to coloniz...

Re: Wanted - Inon Z240 Strobe
Are you dead set on that exact strobe? If not, west marine has a bright, durable one for like $35 or so. Good for marking uplines in bad vis or whatever, and no worries about depth. A guy I know has had them down to 220, no issues.

Re: Any suggestions for marking black fins or derlin caniste
Odd colored zip ties. I was on a live aboard with 14 or so other divers, all with nearly identical gear. I put a green zip tie on each item... One on each spring strap, on my comp and compass, smb, wet notes, mask, you name it. Cheap, durable, easily replaced, easy to ID your gear in a pile on a cha...

I'll just say that I don't really object to WHAT you've been saying so much as I object to HOW you said it. Your tone reads as condescending- not just to me, but to a lot of other people, too. I'm sitting here tonight working on a promo piece for the club to use at the Dive Expo. And what I'm readi...

Well, if I was a new diver and new to the board, and this was one of the first threads I read, I don't think I would hang around very long. Can't you guys just settle this like adults and send each other nasty PM's? I have several fill-in-the-blank style templates I'm willing to send out if it will ...

I forgot to mention that and a bit of cheddar flavored veggie shreds. Ok, this reminds me of something I've been meaning to ask my vegan friends . . . I understand if you don't want to eat animal meat, but why do vegans not drink milk (hence the no cheese) or use honey? I understand they are from a...

I wonder if those are "official signs"? Yes they are official, more details below. Some random thoughts first... The coffee shop owner has some mental problems, one day a jerk, the next he's nice as can be. The coffee shop has been "for sale" for at least 10 years. The "par...

Re: Speargun
I've seen divers take nice fish cleanly with both pneumatic and band guns. Personally, I love my pole spears, but they leave too great a chance of wounding a fish without taking it, so now I hunt with a JBL 38 special with 2 bands. I've taken up to a 40inch ling with it and never had a need for a 3r...

***this post posteded under the influence of beer*** A while back, there was the infamous "Jacksonbrown" event. No secret, it pissed me off. I think the mods were wrong, not only in banning Cory but also in their response to members objecting to their actions. See, here's the thing. I get ...

Bottom line, if you want to dive an al80 to 130 solo and feel safe doing so because if you go OOA your spare air will get you to the surface, go for it! No one on THIS board will say a damn word against ya, it's against the rules! Wrong. Not the case. Perhaps you didn't read what the Mods wrote? Or...

You know, I just read this whole thread with increasing disbelief. +1. I am a product of unsolicited advice. Lynne started it over on scuba board, where the powers that be allow such reckless and irresponsible behavior. She offered some advice, and I was then pointed in the direction of people like...
