That's a good unit. I was trained to use one while I was still working at Phillips. Proper use of a defibrillator will give a victim the best chance of survival. The Phillips Heartstart is one of the easier ones to use properly.

I just picked up some Kielbasa, beef franks and corn to boil up in the stock pot. Plus buns for the franks.

I was planning to bring my big propane burner and stock pot as well. Good for cooking kielbasa, corn on the cob, potatoes and stuff like that. (Sund Rock is a marine sanctuary.)

How about a pickup truck with an extended cab? Put a lid on the bed for security, and the gate is your changing bench.

Pony tank question
The size of the tank used as a pony bottle depends on your air consumption rate (SAC or RMV) and your max depth. A 19 cuf tank is generally considered the smallest size for a slightly stressed consumption rate of 1 cuf/minute and a max depth of 100 ft. Given that it's best to check the tank with a c...

Re: Pony tank question
Look up "stage bottle rigging". Note that the second stage for the slung bottle remains bungied to the small tank, not attached to your body. And it's not called an octo. The advantage of this system is that it works for a range of tank sizes, all of which may be easily unclipped from your...

Re: Pony tank question
Given that a pony bottle may or may not be with you on each and every dive, it remains prudent to have both a primary and backup 2nd stage on your main tank. I sling my pony the same way I would carry a deco or stage bottle. Same kit, same procedure for deployment. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Re: Vashon island WSA dive site
I've dove Dalco Wall a few times from the Bandito chatter when conditions were favorable. It's a fun site that gets pretty deep if that's what you want to do. Lots of structure from big clay slabs, usually tons of shrimp and plenty of other marine life. Captain Rick knows how to do it really well, b...

It's Edmonds. As long as you get in with somebody and come out with someone, nobody will check that you stayed together the whole time or that they're even the same person.

Re: Dry glove system with O rings
I use the Kubi ring system. Simple push on, pull off with O rings. The latex seals remain intact and don't seam to wear out faster than without the rings. I occasionally use a bit of silicone lube on the seals to keep them supple. The aluminum rings are low profile, so they don't interfere with valv...

I like the look of the remote light source. Perhaps a brighter light a little farther away for a more even side lighting effect. Or even a strobe with a remote optical trigger?

This sounds like a great time! I have a large propane burner and stock pot that I typically use for boiling crab, potatoes, corn on the cob & things like that. Is this something we could put to good use? I'll bring a cooler, a couple camp chairs and a small table for sure. Sent from my iPhone us...

Hello, Just got my Open water cert done last week at the Tacoma underwater sports. Just getting going into this stuff and really been enjoying it so far. Daniel Welcome! I'm also known as Aquavelvet over on Scubaboard. Good to see you found our local forum. If you're closer to the south end of the ...

Re: Fix green with Lightroom?
Photoshop basically uses the same image processing front end as Lightroom, however the two programs diverge in their feature sets once you get past the basic color and lighting adjustments. I usually have both programs open when I'm doing more detailed image editing, with LR as the main framework fo...

Rebreathers and scooter crack are optional. Tropical dive vacations are worth saving for.

Wet suit neck stretch
Overnight usually does the trick for latex. You don't want a neck seal that is too loose. Neoprene seals on a wetsuit may need more time. Dive a couple times, then maybe try again if it's still too tight. Once stretched, it will only get looser with age.

Re: How do you carry your gear?
Something to note about the big rigid bins: While they work great for transporting gear in a personal vehicle, they take up way too much space on the deck of a dive charter. It's good to have separate bags for exposure gear (drysuit, hood, gloves) vs BCD regs, lights, etc. Some of our local charters...

Re: Regulator Thoughts?
I've seen Scubapro regulators carried world wide - got my first set (Mk25/S600) in Thailand. Atomic regs are fine as well, but seem even more pricey. Performance wise they are quite comparable. I still use my original set, in yoke configuration, for recreational diving overseas. Locally I use a more...

Re: Tzip issues On Bare Drysuits
I replaced the TIZIP in my Bare XCS last year after 300+ dives on that suit. At the time I didn't think it was out of the ordinary to replace a zipper after 3 1/2 years of frequent (weekly) use. The zipper kept me dry right up until it didn't anymore. Over the course of three dives I went from being...

Alki Junk Yard
I did the West Seattle reef once from a charter, but I've also never dove the Junkyard. Seattle traffic indeed - it's no longer feasible to make the Seacrest coves on a week night, and weekend trips need to be really early to avoid the tourists and OW classes.

Re: What is you favorite recreational tank size
My Faber FX117s for the simple shallow dives. They're the lightest of the 119 lass tanks. For a little deeper, twin LP 72s - low profile, perfect trim and full redundancy. These tanks cover 90% of all the local dives that I do. Of course Alu 80s are the thing for warm water diving, either single or ...
