Re: Note from Washington Scuba Alliance
I don't know much about WSA, perhaps somebody else on the board does. The following was on their facebook page: Washington State Parks has again asked us to help them with artificial reefs in their parks. This has created a lot of interest and the site that we have chosen is Camano Island State Park...

Re: Stubby squid eggs
Hi Rich Thanks for the info! Just to be clear, I'm looking for stubbies not market squid, though I'd imagine they'd be similar, and both would be cool huh? Do stubbies school to lay eggs? Watching them lay the nest would be quite the sight! Here's a pic of a stubby nest (with the top-left egg showin...

Stubby squid eggs
Hi Jesse found a nest of stubby eggs the other day in the hood canal that was so close to hatching you could see the squid inside the eggs. Very cool. Questions: 1) Does anyone know if all the nests tend to hatch this time of year? 2) Have there been any other recent nest sightings? Preferably redon...

Nice! I like the red eye medusa in there. It even pulses to the music.

Very cool. It is a fun dive to do from time to time, especially with viz like that. Love the feisty cabbie at the end, that just says Edmonds to me

The Hood Canal (Flagpole, Elephant Wall) yesterday was looking healthy with the exception of possibly one sunflower in the early stages:

Thanks. It took me 150 shots to get this one I could have spent the whole dive on these critters.Scubie Doo wrote:Nice work on the sea angel. You got it in a great position!
These little ones (<1cm) were very hard to capture. I read they get up to 8cm long.

Re: Flagpole and Elephant Wall - 1/1/14
We loved Flagpole, thanks very much for showing it to us, Don-B. That site doesn't look very swimmable, scooterable, even monofinable to me. Unless you're one of the lucky people we saw doing a shore dive from the private house right in front of the dive site! So thanks again for the ride! (with you...

Hi Don
That would be great! None of us (at least most of us) haven't dove the site before. Could you advise a meet time/location, based on the currents?

Re: Eggs on detached seastar arm
Hi
The seastars at Redondo are starting to die off now too, unfortunately. :(
I'm sure many of us would be interested in helping out any way we can.
Thanks for what you do.

Re: Lighting Options for Camera (non video)
Hi Kneedeep, happy to show you my camera closer on the next dive, as I'm sure many other ThThTh guys would.
My recommendation (if you haven't already done so) is to get a macro lens and a dslr and learn how to use it on the surface, then get the u/w stuff later.

Eggs on detached seastar arm
Hi
I saw this at Redondo the other day.
A detached sunflower arm, with what looks like eggs on the end of it. Anybody know what's up with this? Are these the eggs of the sunflower star? I assume they won't hatch?

Hi Jan
Great photos as always. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you.
We'll have to resolve to try to dive together next year. Are you going to the club dive?
