Re: Heating vests

I think the issue to take home is, its not 'hot' heat that is doing it. its the spike in the temperature if people are using heating vests that have a thermostat that goes on/off/on/off/on/off, maintaining a mean temp that is 'warm'. Some heating elements maintain a 'room temp' without spikes, and t...

Heating vests

for those people using or looking at getting thermal vests, keep this in mind. do a google search for Erythema ab igne http://www.cmaj.ca/cgi/content/full/162/1/77 the new heating vests coming out of EU are supposedly much better than previous options available, and use different technology so as no...

Re: Congratulations are in order

I think it does not matter what "number" she is or what number each of the other divers on the team were, as it's not a frequently dove wreck by either gender, it is absolutely awesome that they finally bagged this wreck, I look forward to reading an actual report of the dive and hope they...

Re: Congratulations are in order

Miranda dove with the team from www.scret.org for several years. Based out of BC. Last I heard she was taking a break from tech diving and making a career of Professional Triathlete thing. I did not get a chance to dive with her, but the reports from her dive buddies were 'the best'. I've seen video...

LOL! have you met her? I wouldn't THINK of trying to help her figure out how to put it anywhere else ;)

And anyway, I tried to think of it like touching the good luck Buddha or something :) Those who apply she-p to evie's arm have good shipwreck diving karma ;)

Re: Congratulations are in order

I started diving the 'deep' wrecks in late 1992, first dives on the Al (yes on deep air), first dives on the Bunker Hill spring of 1993, and AJ Fuller in 1994. There are pictures and video. http://web.mac.com/ljjames/homepage/Al-Ind-Esk-A_Sea.html http://web.mac.com/ljjames/homepage/Bunkerhill.html ...

Re: Congratulations are in order

I think the only video available during that time belongs to Bob Mesters. Same with video for the Admiral Sampson. Bob and Kent had those wrecks tied up in Salvage court and had edicts barring divers through the mid/late 90's, so anyone doing dives on them would have been breaking the law. At DEMA i...

Re: Congratulations are in order

I imagine between Miranda, Mel and myself, we've got pretty much all the 'deep wreck' first, second, third, etc... descents covered in the northwest. Mir and I on OC, Mel on CCR. As far as "firsts' go for women in the Northwest, all that is left would probably be the Admiral Sampson on CCR if M...
