Re: Salish Explorer no longer a dive charter

Some hard data on a shoestring non-commercial boat operation: I have a 1985 Trophy purchased in 1998 for $8000 and have used it almost exclusively for diving. I later purchased a trailer for $2400. The boat holds 4 divers. For the last 8 years it has averaged 13.5 dive days per year at an average co...

Re: Anybody have, or know where to get, webbing clips?

Looks like a tarp holder available at hardware stores.
They chew up tarps and my underwater map cases but would work on webbing.

Re: The old Washington Divers dive club?

So McGlencoe turned out to be Tim the son of my dive buddy, Dallas, from the early 70's. Tim and I got together for a couple of dives this weekend and reminisced about the old days when Dallas and I did a lot of crazy things in the water. It brought back many fond and humorous memories.

This article describes a possible slide associated with L Cresent but not an underwater forest like those in L Washington.

Re: Blakely Rock marker buoy

We collected about 75 - 100 feet each 1 inch manila with a double loop at the anchor end and two 1/2 inch with the marker buoy and a couple of crab pot buoys.
It looked as if a shackle at the loop gave way. The manila looked like a recent installation.

Re: Missing diver off Blakely Rocks

I was on my boat at Blakely Rock tied to the China Wall buoy with 2 divers in the water when I heard the missing diver call on VHF. We left about an hour later with several police and or coastguard boats there and thinking the victim had been found and at least in the process of being recovered. I w...

Blakely Rock marker buoy

Yesterday I tied up to the Blakely Rock south buoy, China Wall, and put two divers in. Thirty minutes later when the next two, including myself, started to descend the buoy line it went slack. We soon discovered it was no longer anchored and we were drifting towards the sand bar west of the rock. We...

Re: southern tip of Camano island

Camano wall at the south end of the island. Look for outflow pipe and long staircase by beach cabins. Anchor in about 30 ft. ledges start at about 50 FSW. Follow ledge north for most interesting at about 95 FSW. I'd be happy to show you, your boat or mine, any day of the week.
