Re: Question about Saltwater SP - low tide and eelgrass
I've never seen the eel grass exposed there. I've experienced some mega low tides where you walk most of the way out, but the eel grass remained submerged.

I think I'm going to hit cove 2 around 5:30pm today for an early night dive. Haven't been diving much lately and need some camera practice.

Re: Saltwater park from the sky and below
Thanks. Actually, at low tide you can walk pretty far which some think is easier. Particularly when there's current.

Saltwater park from the sky and below
My buddy and I dived Saltwater Park yesterday and the conditions were very nice. Slack before a small exchange provided for zero current and the viz was a cooperative 25 feet with particulate. The reef was really teaming with life. More so than I recall in the recent past. Sometimes this site can be...

Re: Tried Kayak diving? Got any tips?
You can try austin kayak instead of waiting for REI: http://www.austinkayak.com/products/343/Ocean-Kayak-Frenzy-Kayak.html I ordered a Tarpon 140 from them and kayak dived from it for a while. I stopped after my dive buddy, who I also convinced to get a kayak, got tired of the whole operation and bo...

8/26 super clear 35-40 feet @ redondo. Skates were everywhere. Very cool! At what depth did you find the skates? Get some vid?? -Eric Eric, We found the skates anywhere from 80 to 30 feet (we dropped down to the carousel and then angled north up slope back to the line a bit before the VW). And, by ...

Re: Blakely Rock 8/17
I used the DJI Phantom 2 Vision +. I'm still learning how to fly it well. There were seals on the rocks and I considered flying in close (if you look closely you can see some swimming underwater), but figured I'd best learn what rules there are about harassing marine life with a quadcopter first. Pl...

Blakely Rock 8/17
Dived China Wall and Shangri-La off Blakely Rock on Sunday. The viz was a stellar 30 feet with plenty of octos and wolf eels. The fog was dense early and made crossing the ferry and cargo ship routes a bit sketchy. But, thankfully that burned off for a beautiful day. I tried out a quadcopter for the...

A stranger for a buddy
I was recently diving off the NC coast and had a terrible experience. I emailed some friends about it and will share that email below. But, basically, I'd like some advice about what you do when buddying with a stranger for a dive. Do you have any methods for evaluating their abilities? And, perhaps...

I used to live in NYC and nothing compares to trying to go crosstown during rush hour in Manhattan. Jimi Hendrix was right. By comparison Seattle has no traffic problems!

You can never be too careful with your housing
One would think an underwater video camera housing would be very safe sitting on a kitchen counter. However, when you let your guard down, bad things happen. Apparently the cat felt it was not an expensive piece of underwater equipment but rather an emesis bucket. How it managed to get puke inside t...

Excellent pics yelloweye! Especially since the conditions weren't favorable at all.
Viz was a bit better today (brown soup was mostly gone), but winds curtailed diving and limited us to 2 dives today.
