Re: Thoughts

I think there was a thread like that a while back.

No one who meets me thinks it was worth the time and effort. #-o

Re: what have you learned this year?

What about down? :smt064 'brewer - excuse me Scubagyver is right. Among the many things I've learned over this last year I recently learned that down can indeed be used as a drysuit undergarment layer. It was an emergency measure though. Fleece is a better material; down is worthless when wet, more...

Re: what have you learned this year?

Drag racers used to have an expression. "There's no replacement for displacement".

This year I've learned 'there's no replacement for fleece' when one becomes cold on dives. :pale:

Re: My First Rescue

I thought we weren't gonna talk about that? Oh well, it's not like IF that actually happened, Pez would laugh or anything... I don't remember agreeing to anything. :la: But if we did and I forgot; that's my bad. #-o I'm sure other people have had it happen to them Joe. Right everyone? [crickets] :d...

Re: My First Rescue

I still have Lilo, and Rajah (G/F's cat), and I'm sure this won't be the last animal we take in. No doubt with Pez's new girl, he'll be in the doghouse soon enough and will need a place to sleep for the night... keep Oscar's doggie bed around so Pez can crash on it when he needs to. Pez ain't crash...

Re: My Step Father Invented the Rebreather

I've had a couple conversations come close to where you and your stepfather went but I don't think anyone's ever quite invented a rebreather in front of me. College students studying science can be a cut above the rest :book:

Re: I'M NOT COLD!!!...

He's throwing you all for a loop. It's really Jake; he made the splitfins out of some cardboard, duct tape, fan belts and zip-ties after a few too many of his home-brew. :evil4:

He should change his username to "Scubagyver". :salute:

I don't think we could pay him enough to dive a wetsuit in the winter again.

He has too much fun modifying his drysuit.

Re: I'M NOT COLD!!!...

Maybe this should go in the "Firsts" thread? I was warm through last winter and this summer. I also lost about 30lbs (of fat, not lead) over the summer so now I'm feeling the colder temps :pale: Got creative with my undies, doubled up my socks and gloves and laivindil is a happy camper \:...

What a blast! :supz: Nuddis, P-valves, big tanks and deep depths. I discovered two new hobbies on that dive. Details below: 1) Buddy Drowning: when your buddy gives you an 'out of air' signal and has no regulator in his mouth, instead of giving them your regulator give them a quizzical look. Great f...

The honeybear in Cove 2 went from an object barely recognizable as a boat hull to a collapsed pile of rubble. :dontknow:

That's all I got. When I have more than 3 years under my weight belt I'm sure I'll have something more.

Re: Naughty or nice?

1. I need a new snorkel. I lost mine diving the lake. It disappeared somewhere between 120 and 140ffw while I was switching from my AL80 to my spare air for the ascent. 2. I also need some new split fins. The blue ones I have are ok, but they don't really go with my drysuit . A yellow pair would be ...

Also try thicker socks especially if your drysuit boots fit a bit tight to begin with. Some side benefits are more cushion when walking topside and greater warmth.
