Re: Viz Reports Thread

The rains from Sunday and Monday morning made a mess of the ok vis reports from the weekend in Mukilteo. Vis at the T Dock yesterday evening was horrendous (less than 5 ft) all the way down to 70 fsw. I'm pretty sure I swam completely through the middle of the dome before I realized I had found it.

Candy Stripe Shrimp midsound invasion

Lately there have been reports of candy stripe shrimp at the north end of the Edmonds UP. Yesterday evening I found one under the geodome at the T Dock in Mukilteo. I was previously unaware of them being seen outside of the San Juans and Fidalgo Island. I haven't been diving long enough to know if t...

Wow, those were great to watch! Loved the sea pens getting eaten and Mr Chompies swimming around the dome. Also a decorated warbonnet out in the open?! Was that in the San Juan’s or closer to home?

A very thankful Thanksdiving

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I am extremely thankful for our local diving opportunities and community. Even with all the craziness of 2020 most of us have been able to still enjoy spending time underwater. This year has really made me appreciate how amazing our local diving actually is. I've spent m...

Decorated Warbonnet Skyline Dive

Back in August I met my friend in Anacortes for her first Skyline visit. I was planning on a short dive along the start of the wall with my HP80 since this would have been her first advanced current dive. Unfortunately she forgot her fins and had to bail. Luckily I had my bigger tank and pony with m...

I’ve definitely talked to someone who goes out around the corner to the start of the Sares Head Wall. No idea if you can get farther down to the shallow crimson candyland field though. Only one way to find out!

Saturday 10/24 in Mukilteo at both T Dock and the other park with the pier were 25 to 30+ below 30 fsw. It felt like we were in a Cathedral swimming around the piles with several giant bait balls swarming around getting blasted by Stinky the Seal. I was also at the top of the geodome at one point on...

Sounds like we will need to do some extensive field work for the next few months! Trying not to be tempted to join a scooter gang right now, but maybe next year.....we can start working on data from the weirder exchanges around Candy Land and Certain Death Pass

Re: Viz & "beginner" questions about Edmonds

What dates are you planning on coming up? As YellowEye said, the vis is probably fine these days. One piece of advice is to time your 1st dive near high tide at the tail end of the flood. Edmonds is pretty shallow and the vis will be the best at high tide. I avoid diving there on low minus tides as ...

Labor Day Skyline/Keystone underwater extravaganza

This past Labor Day weekend the tides and weather aligned perfectly for slice after slice after slice of delicious keyline pie. There were perfect morning Skyline tides which left ample time to head over to the Keystone Jetty Aquarium for more afternoon fun. I was only able to eat pie on Monday but ...

Hopefully I'll be down there around 4/4:40 for a warm up dive also. I'm in a red tundra with a black tool box and wheelbarrow in the back.

KeyLine Pass Rocks Summer Diving

Lots of working, diving and a puppy this summer has meant not a lot of computer time to sift through photos on the hard drive. I've been spending most of my bottom time on the outside of Whidbey and Fidalgo Islands shore diving the usual sites. There was a Deception Pass adventure back in July. http...

Re: Viz Reports Thread

Sunday 8/9/20. We started at Skyline in the morning. Vis was less than 10 ft shallow but "opened up" to the average 10 to 15 below 40 ft. Keystone in the afternoon at max ebb was a glorious 30 ft near the end of the jetty.
