If you use a big enough trash bag, you can drain the bottle down to empty 14.7 psi to you Richard! Lol You do have to watch it and adjust the supply reg flow accordingly. Reality is that at a certain supply pressure my helium regulator can't dump it into the mixing stick (which has 100% in it) fast...

Can someone do me a huge favor and hit Curtis in the head with a lead weight while he is in the water.
I don't want him to forget about me.
I'll let him tell the story.
Glad to know you are back and finally gonna get wet again Amigo!

Re: Florida and Grand Bahama in June
There is some good shore diving in Lauderdale by the Sea (Datura Avenue) and about 8 mikes further south in Dania Beach (SeaTech Ledges). Both have pay parking and require dive flags. Sea Tech has some awesome ledges out just past the pier. There is a Meetup group called "Gold Coast Scuba"...

You could ask Jackson Brown to go with you. He has a portable.
Is he still banned here, or has the old fart learned to behave? :-)

How common is deep air? NHZ
On open circuit, 140 was my max on air, in Florida. Up there it would be closer to 110. As far as my logic, during my AN/DP/extended range training, I dove one day to 175 on the Hydro Atlantic and felt fine. I was actually thinking... This is easy shit The very next day, we hit the Miller Lite, with...

You just don't know what you don't know. As Spatty said, not a whole lot of folks here will probably admit to it. That being said, you can guarantee there are folks there doing it. They may not be a part of the NWDC circle. It is very common in Florida, but I had to expand beyond my circle of acquai...

Re: Just out for a morning cast.
I think there's something really important that we can learn from this shark catch. Even though we can't turn back time and release this great creature back into the wild, speaking from a health perspective I sincerely hope that this man doesn't eat or feed it all to his family or friends. The shar...

I doubt there are too many folks around the Navarre Florida area that consider a big Mako shark a personal pet.mz53480 wrote:Reminds me of a post about an octopus taken at Cove2 not too long ago.
Legal.... But maybe not the best choice all things considered.

Re: Shearwater Petrel GF Settings
This is nothing more than my experience... So take it with a grain of salt. Shearwater defaults used to be 30/85. They changed it to 30/70 about 2 years ago after some deep diving bubble research that was done... Or so I understand that to be the case. I used to dive 30/85 on all my dives, rec and t...

You can use/adjust them on air just as well as you can with any other gas.

Re: Shearwater Petrel GF Settings
I was diving down to the I-Beams yesterday and by the time I arrived there, pretty much a straight swim to the top of the I-beams too at around 100ft, my Petrel informed me that I had 2 minutes at 100ft before I exceeded my NDLs. Given that my buddies had 15+min on their Oceanic puck computers I wa...

The battery retaining system for Dive X scooters sucks. Mine failed several times on my Sierra when I had it.

Funny you mention the speed control. I just finished a half mile run on a 600 and noticed myself unintentionally changing the speed by bumping the lever. But it sure is nice to be able to adjust speed with one hand to any output on the fly. If Jon ever drops his prices a bit, I think he will corner ...

The 600 is modular. The batteries break down into 300w packs.

Two of my buddies dive the Genesis 600. This is one of the few times I'll say this.... I'm jealous
No dynamic shaft seals and no opening the main body to charge.
Pretty ingenuous setup.
