slimey gear?

I have noticed that if I try to soak my gear overnight in my dive closet, aka the second bathroom, anything submerged gets a film on it...I can scrub it off with fresh water, but it's wierd....I've stoped soaking it for more then an hour or so, but I was wondering if anyone else's stuff gets this? I...

Thanks guys, I'll pm Maveric, they made my Fit all nice and pretty and not smell like salmon (I was a fish checker this summer and the car was my locker...you only leave a snout in there once), and a really good job of it too.

One thing about the REI idea I forgot to mention: They have the world's most rediculous exchange policy. What that means for you is, go buy the thermals and give it a try. When/if you get cold, take em back and get a refund. That's what I did, "they didn't keep me as warm as I thought they woul...

I tried the REI thermals under pajama style fleece pants and a fleece sweater I have, I got cold on a dive. If you stay really warm it might work for you, but it's $70 for the REI thermals, that sweater I have was $15, $10 for the pants...I could have added long johns I suppose, that would have been...

I have that same leak I think! Fill the suit with water to find leaks that shops can't. I patched some holes in the seal along my zipper and I am going clean my inflator valve today I think. Water is coming in around there somewhere and it feels wet when I push on the inflator button and air comes in.

NWBrewer and I keep wanting to end a Mukelteo dive at The Diamond Knot Brewery, I've been there a few times and they never disapoint. Their personal pizzas are really good and they do this thing where your food comes out on a hot slab of granite and you sear it up before eating it. It makes for good...

I have Dan, but only because it got me a free download cable/software for my computer. I have our national healthcare system, which covers everything....it might take a month to get treated, but it'll be free.

tottally non-diving

So, I'm resoring a '74 super and doing all the body work now. I need to get the bumpers and exhaust pipes repaired and new chrome applied. Does anyone know any good places around here? I was looking for a machine shop earlier and everyone was aerospace only...frustrating. I'm up in marysville, so no...

I'm not happy about the time, it took, I went in to cancel it on sat, but they said the order would arrive on tuesday and that it already shipped(not worth the effort of arguing and canceling and reordering). I guess they said the order was for around 80 tanks, and XS need time to produce the order,...

Friday dive?

I just got my new 119 and I want to re-evaluate my weighting, I was thinking a nice long dive at edmunds. 3pm is high tide, so I was thinking doing a rough weight check at 2:30 in the shallows then having some fun.

I finally got the tank!!!! I just picked it up, although it wasn't in time for my scheduled dive. I have to say that UWS did give me a free nitrox fill and didn't charge for the o2 cleaning, so that was nice of them. I didn't even ask, we were just talking about our frustration over XS's inability t...

Patching a drysuit

So, my hobby besides diving is patching the holes in my drysuit. I think I go the hang of it, so I thought I would share my successes and see if anyone else has tips. I put together a method to inflate the suit off my compressor without having to reverse the inflator valve. It's a 2" pvc cap (o...

Well, its a coin toss every time i dive. It's not my choice though, it's up to the drysuit gods if they are going to keep the water out of my suit. In the long run though, my southern a$$ isn't getting in this water w/o a drysuit on.

lol, chocalate milk anemones.... umm, it's hard to say, both Metridium farcimen (plumous anemone) and m. senile (smaller cousin) have color phenotypes, so it could be a brown individual. It's really hard to differentiate b/w tanning and just coloration. It's unlikely that a white will go totally bro...

Burntchef, The black light might not be that great of an Idea on anemones. Local species are highly sensitive to UV radiation, and some can suntan (so you'll loose the pretty pure white color). This is part of the reason the Pulmous anemone is usually found subtidal, it has less of an ability to dea...

Hurrays are re-expressed with annoyance now, My tank will be coming in tomorrow. I think it's crappy that it's taken so long, and I understand it's a big order they placed, but with a sale like that, they should have notified XS of the impending sale so that they could have at least given those of u...
