Re: So I need help with ear issues. Very disheartening.
Dr. Kay is good people. He visited my Dive Medicine class back in '01, and explained sinuses and diving in depth. It was very educational. I usually pop my jaw from left to right, and that does the trick. It never used to until many many many practice sessions, as well as dive jobs. Before then I hi...

I didn't know Deep Outdoors made a softback. Do you have a link, and can you slide a plate up in it?

The main thing I notice in the Lake is that the vis is awful most of the time, and it's hard to tell where the bottom starts- ... and sometimes it's hard to tell where the bottom starts even when you land on it ... ... Re: Harness recommendations
Deep Outdoors.. That's it. As far as a hog harness. Who retails those, or is this a Build your own version? Thanks! D(B) I linked to one above, otherwise it's build your own and save $$. NWSD has all the stuff. Roger that, thanks. The reason I was eyeballing the Deep outdoors harness is because it'...

Harness recommendations
So I've decided I'm going to go with a harness/backplate/wing configuration. There are a few Harnesses out there, and I would like to know the opinions of people who use them, which they prefer? I found an OceanDeep (DeepOcean) one, and I Can't find any info for it online, but I keep running across ...

I have just recently gotten my mix cert but I would most likely not dive mix on a dive like this for two reasons...snip ...Welcome to NWDC defied. :occasion5: Thanks for the welcome! I would personally use a little mix of helium for a depth like that 1) to have better Bottom Time, and 2) clarity of...

rofl, roger that. I got my Mixed Gas cert from DIT, and I shudder when I think about the price I paid for that school. 0]MarcG wrote:FYI, if you start talking tech diving "5 large" has an extra zero behind it.

Roger that. It looks like Monkey Diving doesn't try to go past 99fsw, so that should be a groovy mix, and that's pretty much 10 feet away from the limit for that mix.
Hmmm... It may be worth picking up a harness and plate instead of getting a vest style BCD.

Re: Monkey Diving?
Hmmm... Any numbers on O2 toxicity hits? I don't think 32% would cause it, but even from the medical standpoint, it can be tricky.
Actually I don't think it's an issue at all. That's just a standard mix anyways. Cool. Thanks.

Re: Feeler: X-Scooter for sale?
I'm building one. I figure I'll have it done in more than a few months (As I'm slowly building what my wife calls my "Hobby money"), and getting Scuba gear (I only had what I needed for hardhat diving). I've got the parts squared away, and will order them piece by piece along with my stand...

Re: Feeler: X-Scooter for sale?
I'm sorry, I have no intentions of flaming, but that still doesn't justify it to me. That's ridiculous. You're only going to be as good with a scooter as you are familiar with it, and it's physics. But I concede, if you don't know physics, specifically hydrodynamics, then go for it, but that still s...

Monkey Diving?
Worth it? I'm building up my scooby doo gear, and this looks kind of fun. If so, I may go pick up the beginnings of a wing (ie the harness and shield) for my BCD, and ran across this diving style. How many other people do this up here? what depths, and what mixes are you using? I read something abou...

What is the justification of that price? It's definitely not insurance, which would be the usual answer.

So they were closed and at the Puyallup fair (I remember that booth now), so I went to the lighthouse shop on Pacific.
If anyone has any recommendations between the two of them, and reasons, could you PM me with them?

So I realized last night, that one recommended shop is literally three blocks away from me in Tacoma on Central. Just so you guys know, I'll probably be bugging the crap out of you, figuring out what kind of gear I'm going to be picking up. (as I assume that a Superlite 17 on scuba tanks might be a ...
