Re: Bonaire Video December 2010

Thanks to everyone for all the kind words :). Editing all the video was a monumental task, but it brings a smile to my face whenever I watch the result and remember a what a great trip we had. We really did get to see an amazing variety of sea life. The one thing I missed out on catching this time w...

Bonaire Video December 2010

Well my Bonaire video is finally done :). I started with 40 hours of footage spread over 1500 clips, and was able to edit it down to an action packed 15 minute video. I really had a great trip; the island was beautiful, the weather was warm, and the diving was spectacular. I had a chance to see an a...

Re: Sund Rock Video November 5th 2010

Sorry been a while for a reply. Video was shot over two day and two night dives. Any time you see green water in the background it is a safe bet it is a day shot. As you get deeper less light penetrates so it can look closer and closer to night. One other factor, cameras aren't as light sensitive as...

Re: Won a trip for two to Bonaire!

Sorry took me a while to post an update. I had an amazing trip. The diving was beautiful, the weather was nice (86 degree water air about the same), and I had a lot of fun. It was a pretty whirlwind trip, we were on the island for 6 days, with subtracting one day for no-fly before we left that gave ...

Re: Quality local dry-suit repair

I just had the zipper in my DUI TLS-350 replaced in December so I thought I would pass along my experience. First the zipper replacement costs $366 dollars. However, any major suit repairs also require a $77 dollar "Test and Evaluation Fee". This covers checking the suit after the repair t...

Re: Sund Rock Video November 5th 2010

Thanks for the kind words everyone. Yeah that big wolf eel out in the open was cool. I'm looking forward to capturing some octo videos in upcoming dives. We have seen some huge octos out hunting on late night dives there before, but never had a camera.

Sund Rock Video November 5th 2010

We took this trip a few months ago to Sund Rock and shot some video of a couple day and night dives. We are still learning our way around the camera, but it was nice to see we could get good footage in the Northwest and not just in clearer waters. Lighting was the big challenge. My canister light wa...

Channel Islands Trip Report and Video

Well this trip report is pretty delayed :P. I went to the Channel Islands at the end of September with Salem Scuba aboard Truth Aquatics. We had a great trip, sunny weather in the 70's topside the whole trip and dives and sea life were beautiful. This was my second trip to the Channel Islands, last ...

Re: Won a trip for two to Bonaire!

Thanks everyone for the great information :). scottsax, I appreciate the info on the Divi Flamingo. Looks like a nice place from the pictures, but great to hear from someone that has been there. Quick question do you remember what type of electrical outlets they used? Do I need to bring a converter?...

Re: Won a trip for two to Bonaire!

Well looks like I have been put in charge of arranging the vehicle rental. Any difference between renting at the airport, hotel, or from a private place? Should I make sure and reserve ahead? Hate to get down there and have issues with something not being available.

Tom, Thanks for the heads up. This photo thread: http://www.bonairetalk.com/newsgroup/messages/1022/435536.html?1284528262 on Bonaire Talk is what originally got me excited about checking the place out. I need to dig in to their message boards and see if I can find some good information. It is nice ...

Won a trip for two to Bonaire!

Well more specifically a friend of mine won the trip, but he has invited me to come along :). I had to pay for my airfare, but the rest of the stay is covered. It was a last minute trip so now I am scrambling around to get everything in place. Here are the details: We are staying a the Divi Flamingo...

Amazing pictures thanks for sharing. I like the website too, nice and simple, keeps the photos front and center. The snowboarding pictures are fantastic, I think I recognize a few from various snowboard magazines. You should take a tropical trip, so you can put all that snowboarding wide angle exper...

Hey So.OregonDiver, Welcome to the club. I live up in Corvallis, not really super close. I've heard there is some decent diving on the coast from you in Port Orford and Brookings, though I haven't got a chance to make it down there yet myself. If you scope out some good sites maybe I can make it dow...

Thanks everyone for all the great info, sounds like a medium or a large could work. Hopefully we will have him in a suit before long.

Blitz,

Great, thanks for the info :). Sounds like a Medium would be right up his alley then, considering his shorter height and thinner undergarment.

DUI Dry suit sizing 5'10" 180lbs

I am trying to size a DUI drysuit for a friend and it would be great to have some practical sizing experience from the board. He is 5'10" and 180 pounds with size 10 1/2 feet, 34 inch waist, and a lean medium sized build. He would probably be wearing a middle weight undergarment like a DUI Powe...

Hey Mari, Welcome to the club :). Always nice to see more Oregon divers. Looks like you have already acquainted yourself with a great group of people. I am down in Corvallis, but I try to make it out to the Oregon Coast or the Sound pretty regularly. There are some amazing dives offshore in Oregon, ...

Suggestions for Canister Light Video Diffuser?

I am pretty new to underwater video, but I was hoping some people on the board might have some suggestions for creating more diffused lighting for my videos. On our recent trip to the Channel Islands it was a real challenge to get spread out lighting without hot or dark spots. Right now I have a 21 ...

hey lavachickie, Fast report :). It was nice meeting you too :). Sorry we didn't get a chance to chat too much, on those trips sometimes I get in to dive, sleep, eat, mode :P. Re: DUI ZipSeals neck ring system

I have zip seals on my TLS-350 and have been very happy with them. The ability to easily swap out seals or gloves based on the conditions or a leak is great. I'm not sure if there are different neck ring sizes, but I am a large guy and I have no problems at all getting the neck seal over my head. Th...
