Re: Snake Wall Nanimo
I think it's an interesting wall regarding the wall structure and the cloud sponges but in between the cloud sponges there's not a lot growing on the wall as compared to Quadra or some place like that. I was expecting a little more after all the good things I'd heard about Snake Wall. Maybe I need t...

Re: Sunrise Beach Park Sat 17OCT09
I'm sure you'll find some people to go with you. Regarding the rest of your post...use the Gig Harbor current station for slack and get in 20 minutes before that to allow for the swim and you should be fine regarding current assuming you go on a mild to moderate exchange. To find the wall (it's a li...

Anytime. Maybe salt water though! I get my fresh water fix with Erik from time to time but I'm not as addicted to it as he is!borcpro21 wrote:Hey hows it going Gray? Yeah im on here and I will tell Erik hello. If you want to dive sometime let me know.

Re: Beautiful Dive at Les Davis Pipeline
That makes sense, starting at the yellow buoy. I've only done that dive a few times and I've always dropped down at the shore and go to the start of the pipeline at 95 fsw or whatever it is. I think your way is better!
There certainly seems to be a lot of GPO's at most every site right now!

HA! That's the point...I don't have a scoot...just paint me jealous. :biggrin:ljjames wrote:scooters are the transport... you can stow the scoot on the wall and play/snap picture/video/gawk/etc....
just cause you have a scoot doesn't mean you have to use it the whole dive

Re: Skyline Wall and Keystone Jetty
take a scooter and plan the dive so that the current brings you home ;) *grin* Yeah after scootering this a few times I doubt I'll ever swim it again. 30mins out at 85ft and 30mins back at 35-40ft on the trigger is just about perfect. We still aim for slack but just use the NW Shore dives numbers w...

Re: Skyline Wall and Keystone Jetty
I would have started swimming that exchange at 10 with my reading of predicted slack at ~10:30. Very mild ebb so getting in late would have just meant some work to get out and an easy ride in. An earlier splash would have gotten you the boost out. Fritz It would have been a slack of 10:30 am if you...

Re: Skyline Wall and Keystone Jetty
What was the date and the entry time for Skyline? I am still trying to figure out Skyline, I've had one perfect dive there and a couple that were not so perfect. I would appreciate another data point. steve The date was 10/9/09 and the number I used for slack before ebb was around 11 am. I wanted t...

Skyline Wall and Keystone Jetty
We did a couple of good dives today. First up was Skyline Wall. We got there a little late so had some mild current to swim against on the way out but nothing too bad. Viz was 15 feet. We had a nice slow drift on the way back in. We saw a well camouflaged GPO soon after we dropped down out in the op...

Re: What were we all thinking ??
Sheri (dive buddy, not wife, Chris...) and I took one look at the nightmare that was out there, brown water, whitecaps, serious wind, and said, "The hell with that!" We saw Norris and company out at the end of the jetty, valiantly struggling against the waves, and were told that they'd be...

Those look a little long. I'd worry about the PPo2 levels possible with those things. I'd rather see them in delrin rather than cheap plastic as well. Otherwise, it looks pretty good. I'll have to stop by 5th D and give them a look.

Hey Renoun and April. I just realized who you were. I was diving with Bob at Cove 2 on Tuesday and I think you guys came by and said hello. Just trying to put a face with the online names! Pretty good viz and multiple GPO's pretty much described our dive along with watching a Lingcod eat a shrimp! W...

Re: Anyone up for 100 foot Rock Saturday 10/3?
It's a sunken ferry off of Possession Point. It's not a shore dive and most charter that I'm aware of don't routinely serve that area so it generally involves diving from a private boat. By the way, there's not a whole lot of of the ferry structure left.subagua wrote:What/where is the PPFerry?

Re: Agate Pass
The reason that it's done that way as a shore dive Doug is that you couldn't get out if you did it the other way. The current near the bridge is approximately twice that of the mouth. That's right. You can do it on a flood from a boat but from shore it needs to be on an ebb. This way the current is...

Re: Agate Pass
As a shore dive mid-week in the winter when it hasn't been raining a lot is optimal. With such a shallow dive it's nice to have good viz and no to low boat traffic. If currents are 4 knots under the bridge they will be 2 knots by the exit point at Old Man House State Park. It's hard to deal with cur...

Re: Newbie Locations???
Personally I wouldn't put the Mukilteo T-docks in that category. I had so much current there once (unusual perhaps) that I had to get out. I was a little deeper though. If you stay to the right at 3 Tree N. I would put that in the same category as Redondo and the others. Anyway, just pointing out th...

I use the Gig Harbor current station for that site for what it's worth. That would still have put slack at 3:56 for today. I guess that's why they're called predictions!

Upon reflection there is one aspect to this that doesn't ring true for me. If I had a computer that had been thrown around a parking lot and didn't crack and if my computer had only fallen from a bookcase 3 feet onto my wooden desk and did crack I would be beyond upset if the company suggested that ...

I'll offer but you may not want me and that won't offend me either. I have some experience on a boat and do have the Washington Boat Safety Cert card. I have piloted a boat from Alki to Waterman but don't have docking skills and haven't tended a boat before. I've been to Davidson before on a small b...
