Whats up the Jelly invasion!

Whoa, I had an OW class and Drysuit class this weekend and there were a gazillions of egg yolk and sea nettle jellies!! we were up at Mukilteo and 2 students got a slight sting on the lip, nothing more than an annoyance, but still tends to freak new students out when they are surrounded by a bunch o...

Re: minding my manners..

I live in Snoqualmie on the ridge and teach out of seattle, bellevue and kirkland classes are always either at Alki or Mukilteo. Most fun dives are from typically redondo all they way up to mukilteo and beyond, but mostly alki/muk/edmonds/etc.. my favorite local dive site would be doing a day trip t...

Re: Diver accident at Redondo 5-15

What I typically do in low viz, is have an assistant on the surface/float with students, another assistant brings down 2 divers at a time for skills.. so I run through all skills with 2 divers at a time at depth, 1 diver doing skills with an assistant holding on to / watching the 2nd diver.. when th...

minding my manners..

So, I just realized I am always browsing around on the forums and have never said "hi". So for the sake of minding my manners: "Hi!" :angelblue: I'm an active in status PADI MSDT in the Puget Sounds area and have probably met most of you around are or in the water. When you see m...

Re: Diver accident at Redondo 5-15

So, A few questions answered should help clear thing up and will help ALL of us understand the incident better and learn from it and try to modify our OW checkout logistics/styles in order to help us improve the chances of this not happening again. 1. How many student divers were in the water and on...

Re: Diver accident at Redondo 5-15

I'm ecstatic everything turned out for the best! Its not often you hear of an unconscious diver found at depth making a full recovery (and wanting to continue classes to boot!) 40' Viz - Woa! I should go do my classes in Redondo! alki was a great big 5-10 feet if we were lucky! Question - if the rat...

Re: Diver accident at Redondo 5-15

Wow!! I am sure your wife is going through trying times after the incident and will take time to get over the personal trauma. I honestly get where your'e coming from and it must've been a hell of an ordeal. I really hope neither of you (being new-ish divers), will look with jaded eyes on scuba divi...

Re: Diver accident at Redondo 5-15

very very unfortunate accident - I had an OW class at Alki and Viz was not great either. You have to be very careful in these conditions on how you conduct classes and how many people you take down at a time. I have no idea on who the dive store or instructor or staff was and I dont want to start th...

Re: Distressed diver pulled from Edmonds U.P

Yea, wont bother to reply and offer "my opinion" on the other post. Honest concern for local friends fellow divers and my students that frequent that site.. And being closely involved with the previous incident not too long ago at Edmonds, its very sad to see this happen again. I really ho...

Re: Distressed diver pulled from Edmonds U.P

//edited for content by author // Man, this is the second serious accident in less than a year at Edmonds... Edmonds is one of those places where new and experienced divers "feel safe" because of the shallow water and protected "no motorized" vehicles area. They tend to get compl...
