Re: The Bottle Thread

OK, not a bottle, but it is an un-damaged coffee cup, no cracks, no chips, found over the weekend in the silt at about 100'. As far as I can tell, this is the old ASC logo, which seems to have disappeared from 1927 - 1931 when the new logo showed up.

Edmunds Find?

Not sure I would have wanted to be one of the divers finding the body:

I didn't even see the National Park issue until I went back to Altitude Angle. That entire area is a mess!

Re: Keystone 8/28

Nice shots, but be careful with UAS operations in that area. You're 2 nm from Coupville Navy airfield, within Alert Area A-680 and potentially within Restricted Area R6701, prohibited even under the new rules for Commercial operators.

I saw Doc Kay a year ago; he retired since? That's a bummer, he was the go-to doc for diving physicals.

Cove 2 Sunday AM, 0830, more of the same. Not as bad as a couple weeks ago, but about 5-8 all the way down to the Buddha at 100fsw.

Re: Viz Reports Thread

A great Thanksgiving started out at 0730 at Cove 2. Viz has noticeably better, considering the mud last weekend and the wind storm Tuesday, increased to a milky hazy 10-15 in the shallows and maybe 10-12 down below 20 or so. Water temp has evened out with no noticeable thermocline as of this morning...

Re: Viz Reports Thread

Cove 2, Saturday morning 11/21. Let's just say that I had to find the line under the dive float by braille today - and you didn't dare drop a fin in the shallows (just not going to find it). First 10' was probably 6-10" (yes, inches, not feet) max, opening up at 25' to about 5', maybe up to abo...

As I was running that line previously, I always thought to take compass bearings and time on the lines. Wish I had!

Re: Parking Enforcement Cove 2

Actually musical car swap has been used before with success - chalk just smudges a little.

With the 2 hour limit, doing classes is risking it, but I'd be all for a paid system there if we can get a number of hours like Redondo or Muk.

Re: Parking Enforcement Cove 2

We were out today (Tuesday) doing an open water class and parking at C2. Due to the nasty traffic snarl today, we got a late start in the water. Traffic enforcement came through about 1030 and chalked tires, but they had not returned by the time I left at 1:00. Just for info... it would be interesti...

Re: Viz Reports Thread

Cove 2 Thursday 0930, high tide starting outflow. Awesome fish-bowl viz continues, but there was a layer of misou soup about 20' or so. In the shallows, and once below, viz was most excellent.

Wolfies at Cove 2

Sure is nice to see a couple of young Wolfies at Cove 2. We were aware of one of them the past few weeks but found a 2nd younger wolfie in the same rock pile. The younger one was good enough to hang out for a portrait, but the other wouldn't have any of that!

Cove 2 : Lost Auger

The team lost an aluminum auger today in about 23' fsw, about 15' from the ferry boundary line. If anyone found it, you can PM me direct.

Thanks!

Re: Crabbing at Mukilteo

So we attempted some crabbing Friday morning and walked down to the Edgewater Beach access to check out the south side of the Fuel Dock. Crabbing is pretty much done with the big barges in place now at the western (shore) end of the pier with the pier almost bisected now. We did so some crabbing fro...

Cove 2, Friday 0700. About 5-8' in the shallows for incoming tide, then opened up nicely to be able to see the entire Honey Bear. Very nice this morning.

Re: Viz Reports Thread

AM on 6/24, Cove 2 was probably 10 in the shallows, but a nice 15-20 deeper than 20' on a smaller incoming tide. It was somewhat better earlier in the week.

Most are a bit skittish, but this one seemed to hang around and take an interest in the camera for some reason. Very cool. I'll take it.
