Wow...that really WAS a spanking. The disdain from the judge almost dripped from the pages.

It'll never bring Rosie back, but at least some justice has been served.

Re: The end of my diving career

Thank you, Dennis.... As you can tell from looking at the dates, despite my attempted resignation I have decided to stay on as a NWDC Moderator. Not only did Calvin do his best to talk me out of it, but so very many kind and decent people went out of their way to ask me to stay and remain a part of ...

Kaia's OK back in Boston

Long time members of NWDC will remember a one-time active member here called "thelawgoddess" - real name Kaia. After graduating from law school and passing the Bar Exam, she relocated to Washington, DC, where she pretty much stopped diving but continued with her love of running. She was ru...

Re: Hat (Gedney) Island Barges have been removed.

The dive sites of my "yesteryear" are being destroyed one by one. The Mukilteo T-Pier used to be tremendous until they "shaved" the bottom and removed all of the sunken logs, (it's now been partially restored due to divers adding some structure, but nowhere near what used to be t...

Re: Hat (Gedney) Island Barges have been removed.

A sad day indeed. Those barges were great dive sites. Did they even remove the one at 100 FSW+? How on Earth would removing the sunken barges improve the marina breakwater wall?

So....what's the moon snail recipe...? Just in case you are serious: there used to be (along time ago!) a paperback book available called, Edible? Incredible !, by Marjorie Furlong and Virginia Pill. It was described as "a reference guide for saltwater sealife and the dinner table". To my...

Excuse me? Did you say you eat them? :nutty: Actually, this species is regarded as a delicacy in the Russian far East, where it's called "Tochni". If Dave and his family eat them up in Alaska, more power to them. I personally wouldn't want to munch on one, but to each his own! I'm curious...

Re: Tracking Giant Pacific Octopuses in Alaska

No, it's about 0.02 square miles- if it were square, it would be 733.6 ft on a side. Also note the original estimate was 250 square meters, not 25 as stated in the first post. Thanks, Greg! You're absolutely correct. I obviously missed a digit when I was typing, and I've corrected the original post...

Anyone working the Seattle Aquarium Tomorrow?

Are any of my NWDC friends working Sunday, 4/7, at the Aquarium? I'm going to be bringing my granddaughter and her friend to the Aquarium and it'd be great to know some of the folks there diving in the tanks and giving presentations. I'd also like to take them on a "behind the scenes" tour...

Diamond Knot Brewery in Mukilteo

Does anyone know if the Diamond Knot has re-opened yet? The last I heard it was supposed to open on March 1st, but I haven't heard anything since.
