Old school backplates

We have received several old tanks in lately with backplates from the 1970's. These are the hard plastic plate with metal tank straps. I have 2-3 of them. If you would like to take them off my hands, let me know. I also have several condemned tanks, mostly rusted steel 72's. If you want to use them ...

Tom,

I know one of our DMs (Ellyn) would not have made it past AOW without her Doc Proplugs. She recommends them to anyone with ear clearing issues and they seem to work wonders...

Lost: Blue/Black Genesis Fin

At Les Davis, a student lost a blue/black fin on Sunday. If anyone finds one, please give me a call at the shop.

Thanks!

Re: Basics skills in one place

PADI has a new program for divers to refresh their skill info, on-line. You go through the tutorial and then you can work with an instructor. It is quick, easy and a nice information refresher rather than sitting through a regular class. https://www.padi.com/elearning-scuba-registration/default.aspx...

Re: Best dive destination/resort/value help!

Best bang for your buck? Cozumel. Great diving, and airfare there is dirt cheap right now. If you are going to Bonaire, if Delta is an option, I would do that. They don't charge for luggage for people connecting to international flights. Cocoview in Roatan is pretty cheap too. 4 boat dives a day, an...

Re: Best Airline Miles Cards?

When I was with BoA, I had both debit and CC card with Alaska. Debit card was $30 a year. I would rack up a lot of miles fast, and double miles when you paid for a tix with the BoA credit card. I rarely used the freebees. I always went for the upgrades. But I was working in the travel industry and w...

Re: PADI Nitrox

Amy -- Thanks for your input -- but do you know if what you were told at DEMA was ever made "official" or was that just someone discussing reality? I have never seen this spelled out in an instructor manual, and I have been getting updates for 8 years. This is what James Morgan shared wit...

Re: PADI Nitrox

This has morphed into an interesting thread. This topic came up at a PADI standards seminar I attended at DEMA a few years ago. A husband/wife may share 1 book. KR must be written in the book by one, and written on a separate paper (not photocopied from the book) The book may not be shared with ever...

Re: Drysuit gloves

The Diving Concepts rings are a 2-person job to install (unless you have the special tool,) but the gloves are a piece of cake to put on and remove between dives. There's a very positive "Pop!" when they snap on, so you know they're attached and sealed, and as long as you put some silicon...

Re: So, how cold is it... really?

Many dive stores offer OW course in a drysuit and the drysuit rental is part of the fee. Normally it is a little extra, but well worth the money. Pay the extra...you will be happier and have fun.

Re: Any Paintballers out there??

I don't play, but I got some friends that play a lot of woodsball out in Orting. They have built a very impressive private course on their property and they have tournaments at least once a month. We have a lot of paintball customers and it sounds very fun. I am starting to learn a lot about the gam...

I was pretty impressed with Anderson. He handled the whole thing pretty well. Not sure if I would have been that brave.

the LONG step up at Les Davis

Has been fixed! That bottom step at the stairs was a bit of a jump to climb up after a long dive. A bunch of us cleaned up the entry way today and fixed the step so it is a lot easier to climb up and down. Thanks to those who came and helped get the park ready for diving this summer! =D>

Tom...have you looked at the Sea & Sea DX2G? This is going to be my next camera. This might be a good alternative if a DSLR is too far out of your price range. It gives you the flexibility of the DSLR but the ease of a point and click. You can also shoot in RAW mode. Has lenses and lots of flash...

If I had to guess, it thought it was going to dine on a nest of lingcod eggs and daddy lingcod didn't take kindly to that.
