Cove 2 landmarks at ~120'

I'm trying figure out if there are any particular landmarks/ things to see at Cove 2 at ~120' within NDL limits on 29% or 30% nitrox. Any suggestions are greatly welcomed, especially if there are any compass headings etc. Thanks! :book: :binkybaby: Background: A few of us are planning a deep dive fo...

Alki Pipeline

Location: Intersection of Beach Dr SW & 63rd Ave SW, Seattle, King, Washington 98116 [enter off of Richey Viewpoint] This site can be current sensitive [light to moderate]. Lots of life to see and much swimming involved. Winds are bad for this site since it is shallow [the end of the pipeline is...

Re: Alki Pipeline

Wind makes this site undiveable. The big logs pound the seawall, and the entry is unsafe. Definitely a 1 dive site, since the long swim. KIRO goes out to the seawall in storms for dramatic waves shots. <15knots is a reasonable go, no-go decision. Real time winds are available for West Point just on...

Pez's nav was super. Kinda got cold about 20 minutes into the dive. We had so many bright lights!! LOL. We were probably pretty easy to spot. Surprised the seals didn't follow us! :breakdance:

Its the boot on the Apollo drysuit. My first suit. Keeps me nice and dry. :)

I'm just currently using the stock straps on the XL. I have springs on the L's.

Re: Fin Fit - larger floppier versus smaller snug

Dry. It feels that the larger fins seem to have more thrust and gets me further with less finning. But I find the larger fins kinda floppy and it takes more effort to fin. It doesn't seem as efficient. Whereas, the smaller fins [as they are rather snug with no floppiness] are have much quicker respo...

Alki Pipeline

When are good/ not so good times to dive this site? Seems that it can be current sensitive and choppy if there are southernly winds. How should one plan a dive at this site?

Fin Fit - larger floppier versus smaller snug

Which fins are more efficient and has better thrust/ carry more load:
(i) fins with a slightly larger foot pocket [eg jet fin XL], which you can feel water flopping around in; or
(ii) fins that are kinda suctioned/ very snug foot pocket [eg jet fin L].

Has anyone had experience with this? :der:

Re: Canon G10

:goodpost: After much thought and research, I'm getting the G10 as my first real underwater camera. I was planning to get the Canon housing. But....perhaps the $400+ difference for the Ikelite is worth it. Need to think about that. Hmm... The Ikelite is so bulky. :banghead:

And if you are taking the class from the person I think you are taking it from, he'll cover all that. All the skills you will learn in Rescue, are of little value if you lack the strength and endurance to use them in an emergency. I'm going to start diving with my XL jetfins again! :hah:...

Rain or shine- I'm bringing self, gear, dog and grub-- thinking chicken pesto pasta salad [normal chicken, not chicken of the sea].

I'll need a dive buddy. I'm curious about the bottle field out there.

I'm excited! Hope to do 2 dives. Yippeee! :breakdance:

Re: DIW & Titlow 3/19/09

Thanks for the dive everyone! I was hesitant to dive the site as I was concerned about potential currents. However, there little current during our dive. It was kinda like riding the slow TTN currents. Our first sighting was an juvenile octo shortly after we dropped. It was cameoflaged and graceful-...
