Re: Geoduck season.
I see them all the time while diving at various sites in the sound. Are they that good to eat? My mind says that a clam that big would have to be chewier than octopus.

Re: Bonaire travel/hotel recommendations
I have only been to Bonaire once for two weeks and I stayed with Buddy Dive. I wouldn't hesitate to stay with them again. Everything was worth the money paid. The package I had included a two tank boat dive every dive day and the usual unlimited shore diving / rental truck. I have no complaints at a...

Re: The Bottle Thread
I found this NuJol bottle yesterday. While it's not the most amazing looking bottle or valuable at all, the story behind the product is interesting, at least according to this treatise penned in 1949. Thirty years ago the Standard Oil Company became impressed with the methods of the big packing hou...

Re: Shops in the area that fill using a water bath
The slower the fill rate the less heat generated. Wasn't it the master on Kung Fu that always told Grasshopper to have patience? [/quote]Not exactly. There's the same amount of heat of compression going to 500 to 3000 psi in 3 minutes vs. 20 mins (in joules or whatever unit you want to measure in)....

Re: Shops in the area that fill using a water bath
generally in a splatter pattern on the bottoms. That's been my experience. No longer filling at a shop with a water bath, no more tumbles. But, I'm also diligent now to purge the valve. My LDS doesn't use a water bath and has two articles post on the wall that support the practice of dry filling. H...

I would seriously love to join one of your picnic point dives...I've never done it PP is an ok dive, but hardly worth schlepping gear over the bridge. Jeremy loves schlepping gear for dives that are barely worth it. I would seriously love to join one of your picnic point dives...I've never done it ...

Re: First dive in Deception Pass is in the books
Congratulations on surviving and enjoying your first trip through the pass! It really is a great experience and I might hit the October window for another dose of Deception green magic. As far as lighting for your Gopro, I have had really good luck with the rig that H2O doctor built for me. I don't ...

Re: Wetsuit help
Here's another two p.s.i. worth...... On my two week trip to Bonaire in January of 2012 I took a full three mil. Water temps were in the 78 to 80 deg. range. After the first three days I quit using it. Just a short sleeve rash guard for BCD friction and board shorts. I honestly had a hard time telli...

Re: I am looking at reels and SMB's...recommendations?
I know that the SMB I posted a link to sounds huge but in fact it will fit in a thigh pocket on my dry suit along with the 100' finger spool. Since switching to a BPW I have been diving with it snapped off to the butt D ring. I find it much easier to deploy from this position. Just my two p.s.i........

http://www.scuba.com/scuba-gear-117/032978/XS-Scuba-Surface-Marker-Buoy.SMB.html?gclid=CJ--q7eLurkCFbCDQgodyHQA0g This is the SMB I carry on every dive with a 100' finger spool. It has both oral inflation and a bottom fill option for use with your second stage and it won't deflate on the surface. Wi...

Was letting go of the ascent line to prevent the yoyo stop not an option? I have a strap for ascent line rest stops in high surge areas like Neah Bay. It's about 10 feet long and clips to me and to the ascent line. It wasn't really an option. There was enough current running that I would have had t...

Re: Have you ever felt like something was ...watching you?
I have a couple dives planned in the Columbia river here at home this fall / winter to try and shoot some video of them in the wild. I have talked to a few different commercial divers with the PUD and they see them fairly regularly.
