Re: Battling Computers
You been snorting the powder out of Marcoux's KoolAid packet again, Ben? ;) Well, maybe just a little... But I didn't mean to come off that way. I was just trying to share one specific thing that's helped me. It's something I think any diver could use and potentially benefit from as I have. It goes...

Re: Battling Computers
I hope nobody minds the little min-deco conversation that was spawned. I have to say I'm a pretty enthusiastic follower. It really changed diving for me physiologically. More specifically it changed how I feel post-dive. If anyone here has not had this as part of your training you owe it to yourself...

Re: laytex seals.
Anyone have a place they recommend to buy wrist and neck seals from? You looking for someone to do the work, or do you just want to buy seals for a DIY install? For the latter you can get very good quality seals and low prices from Bob Thiry . Don't be put off by the 1996-style website. Bob and Kat...

Re: Drysuit, BP/W, Can light questions
All the advice I would give has been given, but I'll add one thing. Get a soft 2" sewn crotch strap from Deep Sea Supply . Hard resin webbing is the worst for crotch straps. They are uncomfortable and cause a lot of wear on the suit saddle. This soft strap from Tobin is much more comfortable an...

Re: Battling Computers
I don't think there is really anything inherently wrong with Suunto computers (other than frequent pressure sensor failure). They work fine for the majority of the recreational dive population where some padding is a good idea. Even the Suunto "rush to the shallows" deco method isn't such ...

Re: Recommendations for Dive Log PC Software
Another nice thing about Diving Log 5 (was Diving Log 4, etc.) is that it interfaces with almost every dive computer on the planet. I've imported dives from 3 different computers over the years. That level of cross-compatibility is extremely convenient.

Re: Bank Bottles, are they really worth it?
So I couldnt bank EAN, and only fill air if I wanted to. Am I mistaken? Yes, you are mistaken. You never want to fill with air. (I kid!) Joking aside, I've got to comment on Koos' fill station. It's awesome. His diy mixing stick is so well tuned that it pumps out 32% consistently within 0.1% (yes, ...

Re: GPO eats seagull!
Because it's hard to watch something die. I get that. Even if I wouldn't personally step in, I'd still feel like I wanted to. Yeah, a predator will die if you continue to take food from it, but it's not as obvious or aggressive. Plus, humans aren't sea creatures - I'm sure there's something particu...

Re: GPO eats seagull!
Ginger described the battle as “primal” and although she wanted to rescue the gull, it wouldn’t have been possible due to the sheer drop from the walkway  Why do so many people feel the need to disrupt nature's balance by robbing predators of their food? I consider this attitude to be contem...

Exactly. The 90 is more efficient than the 50 at 5 amps, but the die is 2x larger, so exactly what Jake said.

I won't even plumb unless I've got adhesive removal wipes with me. I use the AllKare brand. They use citrus oil and work well. Get the wipes. The difference is day and night(mare).

Re: Cuda Alternatives???
I look at it this way: Do you want a scooter for playing around or for doing dives you can't kick? If all you want to do is add some fun to dives you could just as easily kick, then there's no reason not to get a pool-toy-class scooter. They are fun. If on the other hand you want a scooter so you ca...

Re: Cuda Alternatives???
With due respect to all, here's my short input on the sea-doo. I own one. I have over 20 hours on Sierras and Cudas for contrast. The bottom line is the Sea-doo is not fit for cold open-water diving. Our family uses it as a pool toy. Having used and maintained the Sea-doo over the past 2.5 years I k...

There are several apps with a few great features but if I have to pick just one I agree that Tides and Currents by Fly To Map is the best by a wide margin.Mateo1147 wrote:I use Tides and Currents by Fly To Map. It works great on my Android phone.
