Re: Scuba... From a Kayak???
I find this interesting also. I found a dive shop in Salem Or. that rents kayaks, and leads outings with the kayaks. So it is possible to try this before you buy a boat. This http://www.meetup.com/blueelementdiveclub/ is their dive club. This would be a lot easier in the sound than on the oregon coa...

Re: A Great Day
That's great. I had an experience elk hunting this year, where my arthritic ankle told me it didn't like the long, off trail hikes anymore. Next day I took my bike, was able to do that all day even when it was difficult to walk on the ankle. It is a good thing that we have an activity that fits us, ...

Re: What training do we need next
Well I think that an essentials class of some type (UTD is not the only option) would be time and money well spent regardless of which way you go. Rescue fits in there too. I appreciate having a buddy who can keep an eye out for potential situations and make good judgments to keep things cool. And i...

Re: What training do we need next
If you are sure about moving to doubles, taking essentials with them might really give you a boost to working out any bouyancy issues you might have. Brian, along with Jeanna, are really helpful in that regard. The other avenues may help with this as well, but I have experience with Frogkick diving,...

Hey Mike, I think it would be cool to go over the side in the middle of a school of jumpers sometime. Ever done that? If you are looking for a buddy midweek, i am usually free, give me a shout.

Re: Frozen Dive Buddy Revisited, Advice Appreciated
+1 on the Otter bay hood, love mine, and I wish I had heard about the reg in mouth trick, the first twenty dives I would not speak, it was too much work to open my mouth. I think my buddy enjoyed that period. I also find that the under-undergarment layer makes a big difference. during colder water t...

Re: My (to be) summer vacation
Glen Ayr, north of Hoodsport, has camping, a place to rinse and dry your gear, and a hot tub. That is where we camp when up that way.[ There are several dive spots within 20 miles, some worthy of several dives. Flagpole might be a dive for a kayak, a bit far of a swim from shore for me. Or you can d...

My wife, Melissa and I are planning to head up to Campbell River for a few days, then head up to Port Hardy in June. At this point we are talking about limiting ourselves to shore dives. I may just have to twist her arm enough to get a dive in on the Browning wall, though. Any advice on shore dives ...

Yeah Jeff, the way I see it you would not get "piled on" if early on you posted a reply acknowledging "message received". The folks posting in this thread have not been ones to butt heads with folks in the past. My concern, and Joshua pointed it out already, so sorry, but here it...

Re: Whats your worst diving mistake, and can you admit it? -
My worst mistake happened a long time ago when most did not have octos ( backup regs). At the time, my buddy and I, had the j valve setup that reserves 300-500 psi if the little lever is in the up position, no spg's, and on this dive my buddies lever was NOT in the up position due to some inattentio...

I think your determination will see this through. Your's is an amazing story, I'm looking forward to hearing about those first dives. My bpw set up with a hp 100 I estimate at 80lbs. DUI harness with 22 LBS. Light 4 lbs. I'm guessing the drysuit, custom, but approximately x-large and weezle are prob...
