Re: Batteries 18650

yea i read them, im on CPF aslo , And I can say that ANY LIPO can explode , the same as Nickle Metal, Or SLA ... Its evident on the internet .. Batteries do strange things. Any Battery we use on a daily basis is dangerous.. It's not the same. Nimh and SLA are much much safer and forgiving. Thats ri...

Re: Batteries 18650

Take the time to go through all the posts or don't. I am just trying to inform people of the issues using them. I use 18650's and love them. If you want the best then check out HJK tests on CPF. I use Redilast protected cells. 3100mAH are inexpensive but the new 3400mAH are twice the price (but wort...

Re: Batteries 18650

the only dangers in Li ion packs is when you start building them in packs and then getting into pcb's to charge them.. Thats not completely true. Li 18650's can be dangerous if used in series and they have different charge levels. Take a simple two cell flashlight. If you have a "bad" cel...

Re: Thoughts on filling ones own tanks

Yes there is a delay but you anticipate that at the beginning and end of a fill. It’s easy. Also, you should be using flow gauges for the He and O2. The flow gauges have needle valves built in. Makes it a snap to dial in your mix. The flow gauge gets attached to a regulator. Yes, you need to have a ...

Re: Thoughts on filling ones own tanks

Please, if you have a compressor and your diving trimix you can afford a He analyzer. Then it’s just too easy to CB trimix. CBing is fantastic. It lets you get that last bit of He in every bottle.

Re: Batteries 18650

Warning. Danger Will Robins. Please be careful with these batteries. You need to know what you are doing to use these batteries and even then they can be dangerous. They WILL explode if mistreated and nasty nasty chemicals come out that can mess you up. If your just using a single protected cell the...

Re: underwater Hockey

There was a group that played in Seattle at one of the colleges when I was there. I don't know if they still play but I am sure a quick internet search will find them.

It was a blast but a little rough. It's not easy but it helps your freediving skills.

Maybe its a "world record" for the longest dive in salt water that is 65 degrees and at Lat XX and Long XX on the third Friday of the month following a full moon, ect.

Re: Recharge When?

It’s best to recharge LA, NIMH, and Li after every use. Do not use them “up” or to their full runtime. Always recharge after every use if you can.

Li should be stored at 40% charge for long term storage.

I thought C's were closer to 3AH?

Good luck with anything in PR running on time! The best shore dives are on the NW side of the island, about 2 -3 hour drive from San Juan.

I don’t know if I am understanding your setup. If your CBing and you have an O2 reg attached to the O2 bottle, then what you may want is a Dryer Flow gauge with a built in needle valve.

Re: Bank Bottles, are they really worth it?

Again, unless the OP has to fill his tanks in the middle of the night or he has to only top off one tank why should he have a bank? It will only create more wear and tear on his compressor.

Re: Bank Bottles, are they really worth it?

4 scuba tanks should get you through the weekend and even if they just need a “top off” that’s still a lot of run time for four tanks. Summer, really??? What week is that? If your tanks are clean and dry inside (which they will be because your filling them) the air will last longer than the tank. :s...

Re: Bank Bottles, are they really worth it?

OK, I understand, Koos has a massive compressor and doesn’t want to run it for just 10 minutes to fill one tank so banks help for that situation. But, really Koos, when do you only have one tank to fill? Buy more scuba tanks and forgo the bank tanks. Getting back to the OP: For the rest of us with s...

Re: Bank Bottles, are they really worth it?

Bank bottles reduces compressor wear and increases filter lifetime and also makes filling more convenient and efficient time wise.. especially if you can cascade. . Please explain as I could never understand this. I can see banking as a way of making PP Nitrox. I can see banking as a way to run you...

I'm out of touch! Seriously, what would gas for a 280' OC dive even cost? Ball park filling my own: 40cf O2 = $12 80cf 50% = $8 40cf 35/25 = $15 260 + 80cf of 12/65 = $120 Total about $160. Retail prices I would guess would be 2x. I havent bought gas in 5 years. But, I could buy 300cf of O2 for <$3...

I liked it and require people to watch it as a form of disclosure when they go caving with me. So much of it is true and has happened  (just not all on one trip)! Flash floods, ropes breaking, hair in the rappel rack, drowning, ect all happen relatively frequently.
